Title: No One Deserves Death by Lip Liner

Author: Salamander Erg

Summary: Girl rants to her friend, who half-heartedly listens.

Date written: November 16, 2008

A/N: I thought it might be prudent to do an author's note on this piece, just incase some people get the wrong idea. I just want to say that the ideas expressed in this short story are not necessarily a representation of my own thoughts. Thank you.

“Okay, so tell me why you hate this kid again.”

Marc straddled the back of Stephanie’s computer chair, occasionally tipping forward on it, while the red-head put on her make-up.

“It’s like I said. The first day I met him-no, the first few minutes I met him, he was fine. And then as he kept talking, I found myself wanting to strangle him with Daniel’s backpack. His voice was just so-ack!”

She made a violent stab toward her neck with her lip liner. Marc just lifted his eyebrows. Personally he didn’t think the kid was that bad, or that he deserved death by lip liner. Stephanie leaned closer to her mirror to carefully apply her lipstick, however Marc knew the rant was not done.

“And, I even thought he was gay at first! And nobody agreed with me, but now, everyone thinks he’s gay, ‘cept me! Wanna know why? ‘Cause he’s not freakin’ cool enough to be gay!”

She threw her lipstick container on her dresser. Marc lazily watched her as she put her hands on her hips and faced him.

“How does a person so obviously gay not have an ounce of cool in him? I mean, isn’t there some unspoken rule that if you’re gay, you’re cool? But no, he kinda got skipped over on that.”

Stephanie collapsed on the bed with an anguished moan, her signal that her rant was done and she was ready for Marc to agree with her. Marc shrugged.

“I don’t think he’s all that bad.”

“Argh! How can you say that?!”

Marc hid his smile as Stephanie started pacing her room and ranting again.
