Preface
People’s lives are so miniscule, hardly worth tampering with. But what fun would life be if we didn’t tamper in human’s lives every now and then. We need to be careful though, something Jessica obviously never learned, or none of us would be in this stupid mess…
“What have I done…?” Jessica mumbled repetitively as she paced around the small hidden room in the Johnson’s house.
“Cool it Jess,” Juliet snapped, stopping Jessica in her pacing. “Pull yourself together sis, we’ll be fine as long as we stay calm.”
Three girls stood in the dimly lit room hidden away in their house. Two of the girls looked identical, in their early twenties, while the third girl, Jessica, looked similar in features to the two other girls but nowhere near identical to them, in her mid-teens.
The twins stood in the middle of the room hovering by a stone pedestal with a triple crescent carved on top. The two girls had blonde hair and a slim face with blue eyes and full lips. Jasmine’s hair was long and straight, falling down her back to her mid-back, while Juliet’s was short and spiky. They were rather tall, just shy of six feet. They almost looked like movie stars with their designer clothes, well-applied make-up, and hour-glass figure. Jasmine was wearing pinks and reds while Juliet wore darker colors, blue and purple. Their styles differed merely in their color preferences, dressing almost identically in all other areas. You could tell them apart by the colors they wore or by their personalities. Jasmine was fairly easy-going and rarely got upset while Juliet was usually hot-headed and easily annoyed, blowing up at the tiniest mistakes. Jasmine and Juliet stood side-by-side, a scowl playing on Juliet’s face and a somewhat annoyed look on Jasmine’s. Neither one was very pleased with their sister at the moment.
Jessica was much shorter than her older sisters, measuring at only a couple inches above five feet. She stood staring at Juliet, an annoyed look on her face because of the way she had just been snapped at. Her brown eyes flickered back and forth between the twins, showing a hint of terror and worry after a moment. Her head moved ever so slightly between her sisters as her gaze flickered over them, her strawberry blonde hair falling freely around her face, curling under her chin. She chose not to dress as fashionably as her sisters, wearing a white tee-shirt and sweats at the moment. The clothes fit loosely around her average looking body, hiding her few curves.
Jessica was standing by the door to the room, which was built into a wall that was made entirely of mirrors minus the door. Across from the door was a stone wall, with a shelf built into it housing books of many different subjects and a few different languages. On either side of the shelf was a torch, putting off enough light so that you could see everything in the room, not particularly clearly, but well enough. The two remaining walls were made of mirror and were bare otherwise. The mirror walls made an interesting reflection of the room and its few contents, making it impossible to coherently concentrate on anything while concentrating on the images they made.
“So what are we supposed to do?” Jessica asked after a long pause in which neither of her sisters seemed inclined to end. Her voice was filled with fear, worry, and a hint of curiosity at what was to come.
“The only thing there is left to do,” Jasmine sighed, annoyance still visible on her face.
“I’m sorry you two…” Jessica muttered defeated, hanging her head.
“Don’t be sorry, we just need to fix this, the only way we can. Sadly, it means we may be splitting up for the time being,” Juliet almost hissed at a defeated Jessica. “We won’t know exactly what will happen except that we will revert to a different, coexisting reality. It’s all we can do for now. We should be drawn to each other if we are separated in this new reality. However our lives may be very strange, very different than what we are used to in our present reality.”
“Come on Jess, quickly,” Jasmine said hurriedly, panic taking over her facial features. She gestured for Jessica to join her sisters around the pedestal and sighed. “We can’t spare anymore time, I can feel them coming.”
Jessica took a deep breath, wandering over to her sisters, exchanging hugs. Each sister took a place around the pedestal and began to prepare for the unknown as best they could.
“Are you two ready?” Juliet chimed into the silence of the preparation for the task at hand.
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” Jasmine sighed, while Jessica merely nodded her head, swallowing deeply.
“On three. One… Two… Three…” Jasmine counted as all three sisters lifted their right hands. On three, all three hands found their spots on the triple crescent imprinted on the pedestal and they braced themselves for what was to come. A bright pillar of some kind of silver substance shot up from the pedestal going through the ceiling, causing the three sisters to quickly shut their eyes. All three of the girls felt a pulling on their bodies as their minds started to black out, the pillar expanding and engulfing all of them. They’re bodies and minds were lifted from their places on the ground and the now unconscious sisters were thrown into the unknown.
