When I was younger, and impatient, my mother would always tell me, “All comes with time.” I gradually accepted this rule, and it became my own. So why then, am I standing here knowing that this is one time where things will not come? I’ve waited and prayed, and prayed and waited. I’ve done all I can, while knowing all the time that doing these things will change nothing. This is a hopeless, pathetic cause, a fight we cannot win. Yet we are all still here, hoping and praying all the same, as if it meant something. As if we could change the outcome.

The wise woman come upon us and told us this fate. We have been fighting it ever since she told us, but each action caves in upon itself and brings us closer to the end. We have nothing, but we need everything. Some of us have tried reasoning with her, begging her to change the future.

Begging her is like shooting the messenger. Pointless. She can’t (or won’t) change anything. “The future cannot be played with or twisted. Fate is just that. Fate. Sometimes people think, ‘Oh I did something great; I’ve changed the future’. They are wrong. It was in their future to do this and make this happen. They have changed nothing. The future is in its path. There is no change. There can be no change.”

I am crying as this thing that looms over us comes closer. I cannot stay strong any longer. The future is upon us.

Welcome to the present.
