Dragging eyelids dip low,

but if I close my eyes for

just one moment, I'll fall

asleep.

I struggle to stay awake,

but then find myself in

quicksand, sinking and I'm

stuck.

Nobody there to tell me what

to do, what not to do.

Nobody there to pull me out

or throw me a rope.

It pulls me under, sluggish

movements. It's like a tug

on my ankles, sand gripping

me tightly.

I can feel my heart shuddering,

it's in my throat. I shake and

twist and gasp for air. Nobody

there.

Nobody to help me out,

I'm alone.

Nobody to save me,

I'm weak.

Author note: I came up with the idea in maths two days ago. Wrote it today after watching Effy's episode from Skins series 3. What do you think?
