I sit around wondering how suddenly I became THAT girl

Fingers crunched in the door where I am trying to pry open

your conversations

Wondering if you’ll ever hold me down again

when I go under and hold my breath

I count the insults

Right now I can’t tell if I’m better than you

And I wonder how I became that girl

Ass in the air

.

Lubricated hands

.

and a hellion grip

.

This is the setting

Back room, cold couch, patio, dog barking, the sound of lawn mower and a headache,

and no matter where you pick, it all goes wrong, but with you

with you, I could be a nine to five job and pretend to be a mother

if you found me a convincing child that I could parade around in clothes we stole

I used to be so good.

Now, with an Altoid on my tongue

I feel that I am ready

for your world war.

And I’m thinking it’s funny that I’m that girl

when all I wanted was a thoughtful bouquet.
