WE GOT THIS THING GOING ON

Sitting on the roof of my father's house
letting my feet dangle over the sidewalk below
I'm there now
Awash in this life I find
glitter in the air I find
Winking at the sun
its watchful eye and fission
isn't fooled by the lies of omission
so me and the Sun
we got this thing going on

Got a candy floss cat's cradle
swinging the heart in the spring
unexpected, rich delights
like the afterglow of taffy on the lips
or moonlight dancing on skinny-dipping hips
or the giddy belief in a birthday wish
delights never dared dreamed on winter nights
but spring has sprung
and me and the Sun
we got this thing going on

Spring breeze sweeps through
blowing dust out of places that it must
autumn leaves tumble away to reveal
an emerging Me behind the wheel
a strange place
an undiscovered face
a smile and flutter
as I let go the rutter
and trust my ride to the sky
fighting for the faith to let the engines run
because me and the Sun
we got this thing going on

Unbelievable words sparkle
breathing out of thought forgotten mouths
running my hand over
stolen art in an abandoned house
feeling the swirl and the sweep
of the painter's brush
flush with the rush
of recovery and discovery
throw open the shutters
let the Sun and wind blast through
"this place was waiting for you"
gray spills over green
green amber blue tumbling through
I can only stand shaking and smiling and stunned
because me and the sun
we got this thing going on
