Hands of Time

tic, tock, time passes
by. steady somber beats, for
conducting this lie

move in beat, trying
to fit in. one misstep, we're
thrown out yet again

tic, tock, the clock will
go; holding us hostage, life
is but a freak show

move in beat, holding
steady this tune. forget me
nots, forgotten soon

tic, tock, two seconds
dead. our memory fades as
the minute hand spins

move in beat, cling to
what we know; there isn't much
left, it's all been stolen

tic, then tock, there's a
tic, and a tock, life's a tic,
a tock, and it ends.
