Prologue

I cannot believe I agreed to this. I glanced around at all of the sleeping passengers; I appeared to be the only one still conscious. Sighing heavily I leaned my head back onto the uncomfortable material of my seat. I’d been traveling for roughly... I don’t know how long. All I know is that I had been sitting in the same position for several hours. I was on my way to the little town of Maple Lake, Pennsylvania that my mother had once called home.

Let me explain things to you before I get too ahead of myself. My mother and father had me when they were only seniors in high school. They had yet to experience the freedom that comes with the transition to college. They had dated for 3 years before they decided to finally...err you know. But there was important thing they forgot during all of this, a freaking condom. Oh don’t get me wrong I’m happy that I’m alive and all but seriously, how the Hell did they forget that?! So a couple weeks later my mother realized what had happened, told my dad, and fled Maple Lake. She didn’t tell my father where she was going, which was to her Aunt Carla’s home in Nevada.

My grandparents knew where she was and that she was safe. But my mother had made them swear not to tell Danny, my dad, where she was. They had promised to keep her secret and they had. Until three months ago.
