Love's Final Fool

Let me give one final edict
Issue one final statement
Before I close my doors
And end my chapter

I am enthralled by you
Body, mind, and soul
Have been since I met you
Probably always will be

Your smile is intoxicating
Ever radiant, ever bright
When you smile the world fades away
And my cares are lost

I have been captivated since I met you
Since then has my heart been yours
A long and arduous journey,
Yet with no foreseeable end

So now I go through my last rites
Begin my final overture
To make it known my intentions,
To express my constant feelings

Long have I known you are spoken for
Long have I hoped for a change
A shift in your focus
Perhaps an inkling of hope

Yet all this while,
Only myself have I been fooling
Your intentions are clear
Your focus unwavering

So now I put pen to paper
Unearth my final emotions
Uncover what was hidden
Before I begin my solace

It's time for me to walk on
To begin my recovery
To slowly mend the heart
And hope it can one day be whole

So let me be love's final fool
One moment of madness before sadness
To say I'm yours
And end this story

C'est la Vie
Goodbye my love.
