On a clear-skied day
The sun shone down
With promises of a beautiful day
It lied

A scream of terror
A rush of fright
A gun goes off
Out of sight

They run to find a place to hide
But no place they find is safe
The shooters find them and show no mercy
When they shove the barrels in their faces

She ducks under a table
Claps her hands over her ears
Shuts her eyes tight
Bang, bang
Two shots
She’s gone

He runs to the gym
Squeezes under the bleachers
Takes a shot to the leg
He clenches his teeth and tries not to cry
But tears are welling in his eyes

Shooters gone in mad in a school once so calm
All because of crude remarks of peers in the halls

A/N---

Columbine High School students Dylan K., 17, and Eric Harris, 18, went on a shooting rampage, killing 12 of their classmates and one teacher, then the shooters killed themselves. The massacre was the bloodiest school shooting in U.S. history.

Sept. 29, 2006: Eric H., 15, took two guns into his Cazenovia, Wi., school and fatally shot the principal before being captured and arrested.

Mar 21, 2005: Jeff W., 16, shot to death his grandfather and his grandfather's girlfriend and then went to his high school in Red Lake, Minnesota, where he killed a security guard, a teacher, and five students, and wounded seven others, before killing himself.

Mar. 5, 2001: 15-year-old Charles W., was arrested for killing two classmates, and wounding 13 other people, at Santana High School in Santee, Calif.

School shootings are truley terrifying. My prayers are with anyone who has expirienced the trauma of one.
