My dear, I've never been much of a believer
But for you, I'll pray that He is there,
And an idea of heaven, for you to dwell in forever
And be raised far above any sorrow forevermore.

Until We Meet Again

Rest in peace, my friend
Until we meet again:
For I'll remember you always
And I will joyfully await
The day I can see you again
And the memories, the loss of you
Will be nothing more
than a remembered pain.

I tried so much to be strong
You didn't need any more pain
Even though I was crying inside,
For you, I tried, I smiled.
And I think that might have been the moment
A part of me was lost irrevocably.
I gladly paid the price, to make your last memory
that of a loved one's smile.

I hope you knew
I will always remember you fondly
Though part of me quietly slipped away
And left to follow you into death
And now, I know, things'll never be the same
And what mutes my tears but the knowledge
That I helped ease your pain?
My friend, I'll smile for you again, but for now
I know you'll forgive me -
the thought of you drowns me in sorrow
One day, I will be able to smile for you again
My friend, I will remember your smiles, your laughs,
your happiness - and I will smile for you again.

So rest in peace, my friend
For we will meet again:
I will remember you always
And I will joyfully await
The day I can see you again
And the memories, the loss of you
Will incite nothing more
than the slightest shiver
of remembered pain.
