I rubbed my eyes as I sat up in bed and glared at my alarm clock. It was 6:00 in the morning. It was Sunday. I was going to kill my little brother.

The clock kept going off-that annoying little beeping nose. My nostrils flaring and my eyes narrowed down to little slits. I picked up the clock and hurled it across my room. It smashed against the wall and I smiled evilly. Until I realised that I didn’t have an alarm clock anymore-and that I was probably going to sleep in tomorrow. With a groan I lay back in bed and grabbed my pillow, covering my face with it. If I suffocated myself I wouldn’t have to go to school tomorrow.

I wringed out my dripping wet hair, realising that I must look like a drowned rat. I didn’t really care. I just wanted to get to school on time. My footsteps echoed in the corridor and I realised that I’d be getting a detention. Everyone was in class. I turned a corner and froze. There was a guy taking books out of my friend’s locker, which was right next to mine.
“Hey! What are you doing?” I ran up to the guy and tapped him on the back, trying to put on my most intimidating expression, which was hard because he was about 6’3 and I’m 5’7. He slammed the locker shut, giving me a condescending look.
“It’s my locker now.” Aw crap. Of course it is. I’ve just pissed off some freaky giant who probably wants to kill me now. I gave him my most apologetic look and muttered something about mistakes to him. He glared at me and stalked off. The look on his face made me want to hide in a deep, dark crevice. Grabbing the books I needed, I rushed to my first class. Upon entering, I realised the teacher hadn’t arrived yet. I grinned, sitting down. A few minutes later, he entered.
“Alright class. Get out your history books and turn to page 72.” My stomach somersaulted as I realised that I had brought my Geography books instead. Just my luck.

As soon as the bell went, I rushed to my locker, intent on getting there first. Unfortunately, Mr. Giant had the same idea. I walked straight passed my locker and went in search of my friend, Em, instead. I glimpsed a mass of red curls and rushed towards the retreating figure.

“Em!” I called out. She stopped and turned around. I slowed down, now that I wasn’t chasing her.

“Why has some guy got your locker now? What happened?” Her expression turned sour.

“He got in trouble. Apparently he was egged on by his mates-who have lockers near him- to do something, so he got moved to mine. And since you’re such a paragon of good and all that, the principal thought that it was a good idea to put him next to you.” I fumed silently. So I was a punishment? Fine. Let’s see how bad an idea it was to stick some prick next to me. I grinned, completely forgetting how scared I was of him earlier. It occurred to me that I didn’t even know what his name was; it obviously wasn’t “Mr. Giant”. I resolved to find out his name, and then proceed to hate him.

A/N: Hokay. I know it’s really short, but I think the rest of what I’ve written flows better with the second chapter. Read and Review. You know you want to.

:D
