It's nearly twilight.
We're in the parking lot of the park. I'm leaning against my car with you standing in front of me. Behind you are trees. As the sun dips beneath the trees it creates a glow. The green of the leaves melts with the pink and purple and gold of the sunset and it is as brilliant as anything.
You can call me naive, but I had no idea what was going on.
It didn't register when you moved closer to me.
I wasn't paying attention when your hands slipped around my waist.
It was if I was dormant and when you pressed your lips to mine, I came alive.
I was surprised and I know my face showed it.
You pulled back gently and smiled.
Your mouth moved but I didn't hear anything.
All I remember is that we kissed again.
And that time I wasn't surprised.
The warm summer breeze whispers past us.
It's nearly twilight the first time we kiss.
And it set my soul on fire.
