Madness is a nuisance at hours so late
When the stars are shining bright like diamonds in the sky
And all I want to do is knock them down
And lose myself in the darkness of night

A storm brews from the distance
But blame it I cannot
It is my own restless mind that pulls me from slumber

I lie awake and wonder
If the noises will subside
Will those voices quit their bickering for at least a single hour?
Will I ever be able to rest?

A chaotic ballet, that’s what they create
Those voices in my head
The leap and they twirl
And they glide and they swirl
The most beautiful display of my own insanity

Insomniac, lay down your head
Insomniac, close your eyes
Insomniac, ignore our dance
(You’re plotting my demise.)

Insomniac, slow your thoughts
Insomniac, go to bed
Insomniac, shut me up
(Is that a challenge?)

Madness is indeed a nuisance
At hours so late…
