I met her on a cold winter day
When I was feeling lost
She took my hand in hers
Her touch soft and warm
And I put my trust in her
And let her lead me home

I didn’t think much of it
It never crossed my mind
That this kind-hearted woman could be a messenger of God

One day when I saw her
She was walking solemnly
She shifted her weight on her feet
And said “There’s something different about me.”

I didn’t think much of it
I didn’t blink an eye
I just asked her if she could tell me why

She shook her head and turned away
And started walking down the road
I gave a sigh and followed her
We walked for many miles
And when we stopped atop the hill
We were greeted by the sunset
A radiant beam shone down on her

I didn’t think much of it
It was just a ray of light

She spread her arms and closed her eyes
And told me she was leaving
I asked her where she’d go
She looked and me and winked and told me
“Soon you’ll know.”

I didn’t think much of it
They were just words to me

But then I saw them on her back
Fragile silver wings
And then I finally realized
This woman was angel
Sent to rescue me
