A city once grand lies in ruins
And the sun and moon in eclipse
Fragments scattered by a storm that blew in
The shameful remains of an apocalypse
The flag they hoisted is now burning
As did the ashes they are now mourning
Their sorrow clouds the heaven with grey
And their tears the earth flood
Proud warriors they now decay
Amidst silk, bones and blood
Who loses, and who wins?
Answer shrouded by the remorse for a sin
Weighing heavy on the people's minds
Broken dreams and the fall of an empire
The cost one pays for the sake of victory,
And the damage of a desire
Although time and tide they wash away
The scars of those swords are here to stay
