The sun rises
Livid in an ashy sky
Peering between clouds.

The stars fade
Paling in the dawn mist
Going back to sleep.

The day breaks
Darkness flees at first light
Frightened to be exposed.

The world wakes
Yawning from the night’s long sleep
Joyous at the new day.

The shadows grow
Creatures go about their lives
Waiting for the next dark.

The sun sets
Sinking in its veil of clouds
Preparing for sleep.

The stars shine
Brilliant in the dusky sky
Waking once again.

The day ends
Darkness regains it’s claim in the sky
The light goes out for the night.

The world sleeps
Resting for another day
Waiting for the sunrise.
