Sixteen Years

-

The years go by as the wheel spins

But the hearts cast and reeled in

Though love divides and ends us all

It killed the time for a little while

Until the day we walked the aisle

-

Now all that’s left of the love that’s past

Is a sorry box of old photographs

It’s hard to believe

It’s been sixteen years

Since we pioneered

Well we had a laugh

But that’s all that’s left of our past

-

The years go by as the wheel spins

But the hearts cast and reeled in

Though love divides and ends us all

It killed the time for a little while

Until the day we walked the aisle

-

Now all I’ve got left

Is a sense of a heart bereft

It’s hard to believe

Our love fled out the window

Some sixteen years ago

I’ve tried to forget

But this memory is all I’ve got left
