Assuming makes an ass out of you and me
But really more of an ass out of you
Because those words you say
Hurt more than you could even believe
Do you ever think about the words
- that leave your mouth so carelessly?
And we all know that you do not
It's obvious by the way you act
And I know that in your mind it's okay
But in the end you've only pushed
- me even farther away.
I'm done trying to fit in
I don't belong anymore
I've overstayed my visit
- and now I'm going out the door.
You never did apologize
Not that I expected you to
- understand and sympathize.
But as my friend I would have hoped
- for your care to help me cope.
