The two departed after that and Kylie headed straight for the library. She entered it quietly and headed right for the section that had all the ancient cultures books but as she turned into the aisle she saw someone browsing the books there.

She recognized the person as the boy who she had collided with earlier that morning. She went to where he was – because he was standing in front of the section of books she did need – and said, “Excuse me.”

The boy looked at her briefly before turning back to what he was doing. “Excuse me.” she repeated. When he didn't acknowledge her she added, “Will you move? I need to get to the books.”

“Yeah me too,” he told her.

She pursed her lips and decided that she didn't need him to move, seeing one of the books she wanted she reached in to grab it just as he was about to. His hand reached it first and he took it off the shelf, “Hey! I need that book.”

“Me too.” he told her as he carried his stack of books towards one of the tables.

Picking the books that were left that she needed she followed him and slammed the books onto his table, “You're a jackass.”

“You're a bitch. I guess were even then.” He opened one of the books and began to skim the pages.

“I don't even know you. Why the hell are you so rude to me.”

Looking up from the book he glared, “Lets start off with the fact that you're a royal bitch and the fact that you're completely oblivious to everyone around you except for queen bitch.”

“What the hell are you talking about? I'm not oblivious to everyone.”

Closing his book he put his arms over it, “Then whats my name?”

“I don't know you, how would I know?”

“Wrong. You do know me. I actually was in your sixth grade class and at least one classes after that until now.” He held up the book he was looking at about ancient civilizations. “I'm actually in your history class; oh and lets not forget that we both were the ones to pick the same topic out of Scott's hat.” He stood up and grabbed his books. “You are oblivious.” He walked away after that comment as he muttered, “Self righteous, bitch.”

Kylie stood there for several moments as she absorbed what he had said before stomping after him, only to catch up with him as he walked away from the check-out area.

“Hold up!” She yelled after him.

“Sh!” Mrs. Jackson shushed from her spot at the counter, giving Kylie a hard glare when she did so.

“Sorry Mrs. Jackson.” She told her as she hurried after the boy, she turned the corner that lead out of the library to find that he was gone. “Jackass.” she muttered.

After school Kylie sat in Brittany's car as she poured out her heart and soul. “So yeah, he just kept assuming I was a bitch.”

“But your not!”

“I know, and it makes me so mad because he was just being cruel about it.”

“Why don't you take your own advice and ignore it. If he wants to think you're a bitch, let him think that.”

She sighed, frustrated, “It hard Brit. I mean, yeah, people have called me that before but these people actually knew me.”

They sat in silence for a few moments before Brittany got a sly grin on her face before asking, “Do you know what I'm thinking?”

“No... what?”

“Get back at him.” When she saw the hesitation in Kylie's features she added. “Come on, Ky. It'll be fun. Be nice to him for awhile, get to know him and then spill everything thats worth while to the whole school. He deserves it and you need to play on the dirty side for awhile.”

“No he doesn't...and no I don't.”

“Come on, Ky. If you hang out with him people will stop thinking you're lesbian.”

“They don't think I'm lesbian!”

Brittany rolled her eyes, “Yeah, they do. If you hang out with him, put your arm around him, eat lunch with him, all that good stuff they'll think your dating. Hell you might actually date him for awhile, then turn around and tear him apart.”

“I can't do that.”

“Yes you can. Here I'll help.”

Kylie sighed, “How would we go about getting him to start liking me then. He hates me about as much as he hates you.”

“I'll arrange something. Just... follow my lead tomorrow and you'll be his best friend by the end of the school year.”
