Now I Know

I gave you my heart

I trusted you to guard it.

I never would have thought

You’d be the one to harm it.

I sit here now

And think about our start

I should have realized then

You couldn’t handle my heart.

I’ve always known that beginnings

Can decide the endings,

But I was naïve

And thought you were simply overthinking.

Now I realize that from the start

You were never really ready to have my heart.
