Whispers in the Sunset

It’s just a week since I saw you last.

And yet it feels like eternity.

I remember the last smile I saw you give,

And the last words that you said to me.

Now we are among these faceless rocks,

Your request of me I now have met.

I sit beside you, you lie near me,

And we exchange whispers in the sunset.

The silence around us is growing,

So terrifying that I must bar my doors.

But when I sit beside you, I am safe,

And soon my bones shall rest with yours.
