"Spirit Guide"

Prologue

A young girl, about five years of age, with shoulder length brunette hair and dark brown eyes played in her bedroom. Her room was basic in size, kinda small though. The carpet was light brown and new. Near the closet door on the main wall closest to the bedroom door, stood a Strawberry Short Cake child mirror. Next to that on the following wall, was a small wooden three level book shelf that was painted white. The book shelf leaned a little to the left as it was quit old. On the same wall, hung an oval antique gold painted oak leaf carved mirror. A small pink and white baby stroller kept a Strawberry Short Cake baby doll safe and comfortably wrapped in a pink blanket. Across the room to the furthest wall stood a French creme white wooden four poster bed. The twin bed had a soft; pink velvet comforter a top it. Overhead was matching thin cotton pink fabric canopy. Some past Easter bunny stickers scattered on the head board, some having been pealed off leaving some sticker paper behind. At the furthest corner near the foot of the bed, laid a bunch of plush; furry animals of bears, puppies, and bunnies in a crocheted red and white hammock hung in the corner.

A simple plastic bag was the toy she was playing with. She threw the bag into the air and kicked it around, giggling as she did so. She became excited the moment she realized the bag was moving on it's own with no help by her or the wind. For that matter, there was no air circulating around the room at all. Thinking nothing of it, she continued to play with the bag. Scampered away innocently as though the bag seemed to chase her, she laughed seeing the bag once again swirl about in front of her. Looking around her room, she felt some thing or someone was in the room with her. She didn't see anyone at first, but felt that some one was there.

It was at that moment, that she realized, her eyes widened as she saw some thing coming into view. At first the image of white light appeared before her. Soft at first, but growing brighter as she watched. A halo surrounding a figure was certainly distinguishable, like seeing a halo of rainbow around the sun. Seeing a hint of the figure's leg kick the bag towards her, she finally noticed what she was seeing. This spirited figured was of a young boy, a few years older than she. Golden blond hair was a top his head and light blue eyes. Not feeling any fear, she smiled at the spirited boy, waving her hand in hello. The boy returned the greeting. She couldn't see if he was smiling at her, but she knew in her heart he was.

Just then her mother called out from the kitchen, "Tara, it's time for dinner!"

"Coming!" she answered back stopping for a moment, looking at the furthest wall in her room. The boy walked straight through, waving good-bye to her. She smiled at him as he left and went to her mother after. Skipping towards the kitchen, she kept on thinking of what she had just witnessed. She never told her parents what she saw. It was a secret she would keep inside her heart forever, until years later when that same young boy would return, but in the most unexpected way possible.
