Title: Pantry Raid

Summary: Short story based on what happens in my kitchen on a regular basis.

Nadine threw open the doors of the pantry, causing it to slam into the door frame beside it. Her mother shot her a dirty look from the kitchen table, Nadine ignored her. Instead, she scoured the pantry from top to bottom to top again. She tossed cereal boxes, pushed pasta bags, and restacked soup cans until she could see each corner of the shelves.

Nadine turned to her mother with an aggravated yell.

“Why is it so organized?! I can’t find anything!”

Her mother rolled her eyes and flipped a page of her book.

“What are you looking for?”

“Food.”

Nadine bluntly answered and turned back to the pantry before deeming it a lost cause. She went to go raid the other cabinets instead and subsequently missed her mother’s disbelieving expression.
