I look for a second and I swear you’re there
Then I’m reminded of the cold reality…you’re not
No traces left behind only remnants of what were
Memories flood my mind of times more lighthearted
Then once again reality hits like a brick
Things will never be again what they once were
I’ve moved on now and it doesn’t hurt as much to think
However the faint pinprick is still there…always
They say time heals but it won’t heal that
It serves as my reminder of how temporal things are
My walls are thicker now and eyes more wary
Perhaps it’s a good thing…maybe not
Time will tell…
