Statue

Once, I could see

I had green eyes

That took in the world

But I gave them up

For nobody else had them

-

Once, I could hear

I had ears

That loved the music of the world

But I gave them up

For nobody else had them

-

Once, I had movement

I had a body

That roamed the world

But I gave it up

For nobody else had it

-

Once, I had emotions

I had a heart

That danced in the joys of the world

But I gave them up

For nobody else had them

-

And I was left without sight

Without hearing

Without motion

Without love

A statue

But at last

I was like everybody else
