No set rhyming scheme, rough work, but hope you like it just the same

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So the words that I heard were only a mirage,
I was a fool to put faith in those dreams,
But through the sound of your voice
I thought I heard a promise
Of love, hope, and pretty things.

When you spoke to me so deceptively sweet
I could see no deceit in your eyes,
So I let myself become
A hopeless pretender
As I came to believe in your lies.

But you aren't a king, and you aren't a magician
You're just another dreamer like me,
I know in the end it was do or die
And I hope that you finally feel free.

You gave me your word that we'd have a life,
Where you'd love me through sickness and health,
I gave you stability and faith and second chances
And you took all the love that I had to give
And you gave it to somebody else.

All those promises you made, and the lies that you told me
Were all castles you built in the air
For when sadness came
and I needed someone to hold me,
I looked for you but you never were there.

Because you're no saint, and you're no angel either,
And you take whatever is free
But I believed wholeheartedly that you were my savior
All those years you were stealing from me.

And so I say goodbye, love, you have your whole life waiting
But I shall not stand by your side,
For when you find youself all alone, your heart breaking,
I'm sure you'll be saved by your pride.

Because you're not Lancelot,
And you're no super hero,
You're full of anger and fear and greed,
And when it comes to love, you see not what you're given
But whatever it is you still feel that you need.
