A/N: Written for somebody who makes me smile.

Enjoy!

I want to watch the stars with you.

I want to drive out to the middle of nowhere—

Where even time is suspended between the dark horizons—

And lay under a blanket in a quiet field.

I want you to point out constellations,

Like Orion and Scorpio

And Cassiopeia on her throne,

And then show me the stars I’d never seen

Until I met you.

I want to watch the moon with you

And observe all of its phases,

From new to full and back again.

I want to see the pumpkin orb rise

Over the fiery trees in autumn

And later watch it fade to crimson

When it wanders into the shadow of the earth,

The way my cheeks come aglow

When my mind wanders to you.

I want to watch meteor showers with you,

The ones that you so faithfully observe,

Despite how many times you’ve seen them before.

I want to close my eyes and make a wish

After every glittery stream cuts through the sky

And be brought back to the pressure

Of your hand lightly squeezing mine—

Just enough so that I can feel it—

As you whisper, “Look, another one.”

But, most of all, I want to watch your eyes

And the twinkling reflection of the heavens against them.

I want to watch the sparkling stars

Trying in vain to stay afloat in their depths.

I want to watch their colors shift

From brown to green to blue

And then watch the process “one more time”.

A collision of particles cannot compare;

Your eyes are my Northern Lights.
