Lost in your eyes, trying to find words.

Words that make sense of this feeling.

“I love you” caught behind the lump in my throat.

Hearts racing to hear the words that hurt the most.

The rejection that scars the heart.

The tears that well up in your eyes.

The fear that haunts the mind.

The words that tear you apart.

“But I don’t love you.”

The crying eyes gloss over.

The heart stops racing.

The fear rests, poking your mind

Reminding you this is rejection.

These are not the words that mend your weakened state.

These are the words that shatter reality.

Create an escape.

Real life is not a fairytale.

The imagined is all an escape from the torment,

Lies, wounds, scars, hurt, tears

And the rain pouring down the windowsill

Seems to tear the world apart and yet

It brings loose ends together.

Then it’s the end.
