Mother
Where are you? Where have you gone again
Leaving me alone with these walls and a piece of you
Your remnants carefully scattered, collected, retrieved again
I don't understand your words, I am much too small
I fancy something about garden walks, my kid gloves, a clock upon a wall
I smile and wait, waiting for you to retrieve me
Out of your spoiled frenzy, the glitter of the past
Come home, remove your hat, say how warm it is again
I revel in your delicacy, your strong sweet smell
Youthful, elegant, alive and so aware
Of all that is 'out there'
