Chapter 4

“So where are we going today?” Robert asked coming up behind her.

“We’re, not going anywhere,” she said, “but I have to go. I can’t stay and pretend that we’re friends today.”

“Don’t be like that,” he said grabbing her hand, stopping her from walking away, “I just need a minute.”

“I’m sorry,” she said, “but I don’t have a minute, I have to go.”

“Well tomorrow then,” he said, “I’ll be at your locker bright and early,”

“I’m sure you will be,” she said, “you always are.”

“Tomorrow,” he said, as she walked away. She raised her hand to wave, she didn’t turn around, and she just walked out the door and to the car.

“If I didn’t know any better I would say you like her,” one of his friends said.

“Oi,” he said, “James, what do I do now?”

“Keep doing what you’re doing,” James said, “and if that doesn’t work, ignore her.”

“Why would I want to do that?” he asked.

“It’s a known fact that if you ignore her after a few days she’ll start yelling and trying to kill you for ignoring her,” James said.

“I doubt that,” he said.

“Why did you do something that you shouldn’t have?” James asked.

“Something like that,” he said, “She’s still pissed that I stole kisses from her.”

“Oi, man,” James said, “you just can’t going around steeling kisses from people, you have to at least attempt to ask first.”

“And if she runs?” he asked.

“Then chase her,” James said, “no pun intended.”

“Well got to go,” he said, “I have tons of home work, and things to plan.”

“Later man,” James said, “Remember all if fair in love and war.”

“Will do,” he said running out the door. He got into his car and backed out of the spot where he was parked.

-Next day-

“So how did the interview go,” Christy asked.

“It went well,” Chase said, “I start next week, so you better milk me for all the time I’m worth, because next week I won’t have any time.”

“Ok, so tonight we should have a girl’s night,” Marie said, “we won’t stay out to late, but there is a new café that I want to try out.”

“Ok,” Chase said, “sounds like fun.”

“Well got to run,” Christy said, “my class is on the other side of the building, if I don’t get going now, I’ll be late.”

“Ok,” Marie and Chase said, “have fun.”

“We should get going too,’ Marie said, “you have to stop by your locker and see if mister non-mystery is there.”

“Why don’t you just call him by his name,” Chase asked.

“What is his name?” Marie asked, pretending to be stupid.

“His name is Robert,” Chase said, “I couldn’t think of anything annoying as a nick name yet.”

“We’ll come up with something,” Marie said, “don’t worry, just try to ignore him.”

“I’ve tried that,” Chase said, “he just keeps turning up his non-existent charm.”

Marie couldn’t help but laugh, she tried so hard to stop. But the simple truth was that if the floor wasn’t dirty she would have been rolling on it.

“Don’t laugh,” Chase said, “it’s not funny.”

“It will be,” Marie said, “he’s already at your locker.”

“Ah damn,” Chase cried, “I so don’t want to deal with him right now.”

“Well, suck it up, put on a smile,” Marie said, “and tell him to bugger away.”

“You love inserting other countries words into your vocabulary don’t you?” Chase asked.

“Yup,” Marie said.

“Alright,” Chase said, “let’s get this over with.”

They walked over to Chase’s locker, “good morning,” Robert said, “do you have time to talk now?”

“No,” Chase said, “but since you want to talk to me so badly, I guess I have a minute.”

“I’ll see you later,” Marie said, “be nice.”

“I’ll try,” Chase said.

“How did your thing go yesterday,” Robert asked.

“Good,” she said, “what was it that you wanted to talk to me about?”

“I have to tell you something,” Robert said, “but you can’t laugh.

“Me laugh at you,” she said, “never.”

“Ok, you remember the day that we first met?” He asked.

“Yes,” She said, “what about it?”

“Well, remember the ‘person’ that saved you?” He asked.

“Yes,” she said.

“Well, are you sure he’s even real?” He asked.

“How can you even ask that,” she said, “you were right there when it had happened. You were lifted like 6 inches off the ground, and you asking if it’s real.”

“And then I heard that you ran into him again,” he said.

“Ran into him,” she scoffed, “he saved me from falling down the fucking stairs.”

“I heard that,” he said, “I just think you need to investigate a little more, before you start depending on him.”

“It’s none of your business,” she said, “I refuse to believe that it was just a figment of my imagination.”

“Suite yourself,” he said.

“I will,” she said walking backwards toward her class, “don’t I always.”

“Yeah,” he said, “but do you self a favor and watch where you’re going, before…” he didn’t get a chance to warn her, because she had already ran into someone.

“I’m sorry,” she said, helping pick up the mysterious persons papers.

“It’s ok,” he said, “Do I know you from somewhere?”

“I don’t know,” she said, “it’s possible.”

“James,” Robert said, “this is Chase.”

“Oh,” James said, “It’s nice to meet you.”

She couldn’t help but giggle, “it's nice to meet you to,” she said, “well I have to go, see you.”

“Next time,” Robert said, “watch where you going.”

She just put her hand up to wave, but this time she didn’t turn around, or say anything. She just kept on walking towards her class.

“I can see why you like her,” James said, “you’re lucky it was me she bumped into and not some other guy.”

“Why do you say that?” Robert asked.

“Cause any other guy would have tried to get a date,” James said, “and if we weren’t so close, I would have too.”

“Well thank you then for relenting,” Robert said. With that the two of them walked to their first class.
