Dream

I had a dream.
Perhaps I have been here before,
a place so filled with wonder.
But never have I seen a sight
that makes my life hollow no more.

First times are not always hypocrites
for it makes me stumble so.
But I shall feel fear no longer –
for this inhaled air is truth,
and it’s sinking in ever so low.

As apparent as a silver sword,
it plunges into my heart,
making me almost suffocating.
But if realization was a bullet, and I was shot,
I wouldn’t feel a thing.

Now as I look back
to memories of yesterdays,
they are unseen seizes of pain.
But today, I shall wash all thorns away
until no infected roots remain.

Being held by bewilderment,
I could not see it slip past my eyes.
But my dream dissolved
when colours emerged to nothingness
as I opened my eyes once more.

I knew life, a journey; fate, a path somehow,
with shadows my given companion.
But let’s embrace what lurks
aside the darkness now,
and face this world alone.
