My World

My world is small. The space between

your bony shoulders and your neck.

The softness of your stomach where I hide,

my palm, your fingertips, my lips, your eyes

- my world, so small, a touching, aching, neuron-world.

My world is small. The space between

your sleeping body and the wall.

The rhythem of your breath on my bare shoulder

your smile, the sun, your eyelashes, my lips

- my world, so small, a sleepy Sunday-morning-world.

My world is small. The space between

your palm and my hand as we walk.

The sweetness of your smell, your fingertips

my wrists, your knuckles, our needing bodies

- my world, so small, a craving, fleeting shadow-world.

My world is small. The space between

your shadow and the pavement.

The rythem of your hurried walk towards me.

Your feet, my smile, my day instantly brightened

-my world, so small, because you are my world.
