As I sat in World History relief flooded my body. Who knew passing a group of senior boys, one happening to be my brother and another who wouldn't stop staring at me, would leave me so winded?! My breathing steadied as Mr. History himself started writing notes on the board. All I know is is I'm not taking that hallway to my locker again.

Once the bell rang students leap from their desks and hurried out to the crowded halls. Making my was to my locker Miley and Mary latched on to my arms.

“So?” Mary asked excitedly.

“So what?” I asked, walking around a group of freshman.

“So are you going to talk to him?”

“No. Why would I do that?” I asked Mary incredulously.

“Why wouldn't you?” Mary asked, appalled by my question.

I shook my head as I opened my locker.

“Unlike you I can't get a guy to fall to his knees.” I told her, throwing my World History book in my locker. “Also I've never had a real conversation with him.”

“So?” Mary asked again.

“Err!” I growled, stalking away from Mary.

Mary could be so annoying sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I love her death and she is my best friend. But she just doesn't understand that I don't throw myself at random guys; and that I don't believe that the comics work in mysterious ways to bring our soul mates to us.

“Maddie!” Miley shouted. “Maddie, wait up!” She continued, fighting the flow of students.

“What?!” I asked, exasperation pouring out of my voice.

“Just calm down. Mary,” Miley turned and looked pointedly at the redhead. “Isn't going to bring up Austin anymore. Okay?”

“Okay.” I sighed, brushing my dark curls out of my face. Mary nodded.

“Well, I've got to get to Physics.” Miley announced during our awkward silence.

“Yeah. I have P.E. this period.” Mary added, casting her eyes in the direction of a group of Junior boys.

Sighing again I added. “English.”

We said our farewells and turned in different directions toward our classes.
