Summary: This takes place a few days after Amphrite's spell wore off of Tobias. Things are as normal as they can get
Part One
Chapter One
Beautiful Illusion?
He was so close, yet so far away. Tobias was almost in her grasp but then he went away on a mission. Her enchantment couldn't last that long.
Then again, Amphrite thought bitterly, it was only an enchantment. Will I ever feel real love? It's all that damn guy's fault! Dan is that his name? It's all his bloody fault.
She stood in front of her black mirror and scried it to show her Dan. That blasted mage. He was as powerful as she so he was able to sense through her enchantment. Any enchantment.
Yet there was something else
She stood there, drawn by curiosity. During her months spent in the Beyond, she noticed several girls after his heart. However, she never bothered to see why.
But now
It was slowly becoming clear. Slowly.
His perfect face was displayed perfectly in the strange Beyond nightlight through the moon roof of his room. One of his arms was out from beneath his covers and the strange light had also outlined his muscles and lightly tanned skin.
Amphrite drew a breath as she touched the mirror gently.
Suddenly, it began to fuzz. She quickly wiped it clean and turned around.
An old man, dressed in blue robes was standing in back of her.
Her lord.
Her boss.
Daikkun growled. "Amphrite, my child, how many times have I told you to stay away from the Beyond?"
"I'm sorry Daikkun-sama." Amphrite politely curtsied.
The man just glared at her and disappeared as quickly and silently as he came.
Amphrite sighed and flicked a strange of blue hair out of her face. Daikkun had always hated King Draco for unknown reasons. She figured that is was because of power. This realm she lived in was a pocket between the Adi and the Anupadaka Plane.
Maybe that's why Daikkun hates Draco.
The Beyond was right on the Adi Plane.
She touched the mirror again and it showed her Dan.
He was so beautiful even if he was just laying there.
If only
"Black mirror, take me to the Beyond, to the King of Earth and Death."
And then, as if it was a dream, she was there. Traveling to the Beyond was easy. It didn't have any wards. It didn't NEED any wards.
She moved closer to the king and sat down next to him, careful not to disturb his rest.
Was this love?
Was she falling in love with the man she used to hate?
Her fingers slowly touched his cheek and as soon as it made contact, Dan stirred.
Amphrite jumped up and did the first thing that came up in her mind. She opened the door and ran down the hallway.
Dan fluttered his eyes opened and looked around.
What was that?
He thought he dreamed about a beautiful girl
or a beautiful illusion?
Chapter Two
Warning from the Air Queen
Tracy stirred in her sleep as she felt a familiar energy in the palace. Amphrite! Her eyes flew open as her arms instinctively went for Tobias. She breathed a sigh of relief when she found him here, sleeping next to her. The days when he was under that nymph's enchantment were torture.
She fingered Tobias's sleeping face and frowned. What the hell did Amphrite want now?
The Air Queen slightly struggled out of Tobias's grip, trying not to wake him up. But he only held her waist tighter, as if to tell her to not go.
But Tracy had to know what was going on. Amphrite's energy was close to Dan's. Too close for comfort. She sighed when she realized she could not get out of Tobias's grip without waking him up.
Slowly, she turned into wind and materialized back beside the bed. She slipped a robe on and walked outside.
Just as she closed the door, Tobias's golden eyes opened. Tracy hadn't been shielding her thoughts like she usually did and he heard everything in her mind. By accident. He got up, got dressed simply, and stalked outside, after his queen.
Amphrite ran down the hallway, ignoring the coldness that surrounded her. She had gotten used to freezing weather in her chamber of ice. The world she came from was pure water. Freezing water. And in some places, ice, glaciers. The water nymph heard footsteps after her and she ran faster.
But she was no match for the wind.
"Amphrite, you b*tch!"
Amphrite closed her eyes. No, out of all the people in the Beyond, not her. She turned around, prepared to face the cold Queen of Air.
"Well? What the hell are you doing here?"
"I "
Tracy's cold eyes penetrated into her own blue crystalline ones.
"You ?"
"I came here to see some one."
"And would that person be my BROTHER?"
The water nymph drew a gasp. How the hell did she know? Amphrite always assumed that Tracy would think it was Tobias. " yes "
Tracy grabbed Amphrite shoulders and looked her in the eye. "Okay, enchantress, look me in the eyes. Now."
It wasn't like she had a choice. Amphrite looked Tracy in the eyes and felt a shock go deep down in her spine. They were so cold and dark. Like Chaos
"Tell me, did you put an enchantment on my brother?"
There was no way she could lie, staring into the eyes that bore Chaos. "No."
"Do you love him?"
She didn't answer at first, searching for it in her heart. Did she love Dan? The mage that she hated ever since she laid eyes on the Beyond? Yes she did. "I do."
Tracy stared at her for quite some time.
Amphrite began to grow uncomfortable. The Chaos that she sensed in the Queen of Heaven was quite unsettling. How the hell did some one like that become the Queen of Air and HEAVEN? She should have been assigned to Hell. Not to mention Darkness instead of Light.
Tracy let go and Amphrite looked away. "Alright, I believe you. I don't see any lies in your eyes. I know that looking into my soul makes the person tell the truth, even through spells and death."
Amphrite didn't say anything other than walk away.
Tracy grabbed Amphrite's arm. "BUT."
The water nymph turned around.
Tracy glared at Amphrite once more. "I won't stand in your path because I recognize that true love. And if he loves you back, I'll wish the best. BUT, if you hurt him, if you DARE, you'll face a fate far worse than death."
With that, Tracy let go of Amphrite's arm and walked away.
The water nymph stared after her, a bit too shocked to do anything at the moment.
In the shadows of another hallway, a pair of golden eyes watched them.
Chapter Three
Against Her Father's Wishes
Tobias noticed that Dan's door was slightly open. He knocked lightly, wondering if his best friend was awake.
"Yeah, I'm awake."
"Oh. Uhh can I come in?"
"Sure."
The death/earth king flicked on a lamp. Tobias sat down on one of the chairs.
"So, what's up?" Dan muttered.
"Uhh is there a reason why you're awake?"
"Is there a reason why you're here so early in the morning?"
"Yeah actually there is."
"Does it have to do something with Amphrite?"
"Huh? How'd you know?"
Dan sighed. "When I woke up, I saw this girl beside my bed. Now that I replay it in my head, she looks more and more like Amphrite. But why was she here?"
"Maybe it's because she likes you."
"Heh why would she like me? I mean, I ruined her plans to uhhh "
"Yeah, to get me. But the thing is, I think she really likes you."
Dan sighed. "And what makes you think that?"
Tobias told Dan what happened in the hallway.
Dan groaned. "Only Tracy would do that."
"Technically, no. You do the same thing to me about Tracy about everyday."
"Shut up. Not everyday."
" "
"Okay, every other week."
"Riiight "
Dan glared at Tobias.
The Prince of the Beyond just smirked. "But the question here is do you like Amphrite?"
Dan didn't reply.
After a few seconds of silence, Dan got up.
"Where are you going?"
"To find her. I can still sense her energy in the palace."
When Dan got out of bed, Tobias stared him.
"I never knew you wore black boxers with little skulls on them."
"Breathe a word about it to anyone and prepare to face your doom."
Tracy was half away down the hall when she heard an ear-piercing scream. Amphrite again. She turned around and ran. Why she was even bothering to save that nymph was beyond her.
When she got to the site, she saw a large portal with some old man walking out of it.
"Daikkun-sama! Father! Please, I want to stay here!"
"Get over here right NOW!"
"NO!!"
Daikkun casted a large fireball at Amphrite, but it just scarred her as she ducked. It blew up some door.
Tracy felt her temper rising. Helping a some what ex-enemy was one thing nasty fathers that didn't watch their aiming was another.
"Star Lightning Strike!" Tracy shouted at Daikkun.
However, the blast didn't even hit him.
"What the hell "
"You can't hit him," Amphrite said, helplessly. "He's not in the same dimension as we are."
"Who the hell is he?"
"Daikkun-sama is my father. He has some bad blood between King Draco."
"Hmm never heard of him."
The lord of the other world casted another blast.
"ANOTHER DIMENSION?!?! Then how can he hurt us?"
"Because he's the one crossing."
"Arg! Forget it! I'll never get it."
His blast was stopped by Dan who showed up, running with his robe flapping behind him.
"Dan? Why are you wearing black boxers with-"
"WOULD YOU SHUT UP ABOUT THAT?!?!"
Tobias snickered but then got serious. "Who is that?"
Amphrite looked at Dan and her heart skipped a beat. Then it fell. "What are you doing here? This is my problem."
The Death/Earth King half-smiled. "I guess that makes it my problem too."
Daikkun growled. "Amphrite! Get back right now!"
"Father-NO! DON'T-"
Too late.
The old lord casted a sucking wind and the water nymph got sucked into the portal.
"DAMN! AMPHRITE!" Dan shouted. He ran in after her.
"Oh Kami-sama, save me," Tracy muttered and ran in with Tobias following her.
Crystal stuck her head out the door of her room. "Would you keep- Oh my freaking hell OH SHIT!!"
She lost her grip and got sucked into the portal as it closed.
Suddenly, the Beyond became very quiet.
A man stepped out in the darkness, his gold eyes flashing. King Draco sighed. Daikkun was back again. And this time, he had no way of defeating him. He just prayed that Dan, Crystal, Tracy, or his son would have the power.
Chapter Four
Plot Revealed
Crystal slowly got up, sore all over. She looked around to see that the castle was mostly made out of ice. She looked out the window and saw water, just miles, endless miles of water. And it was so damn freezing.
"Great," she muttered. "Where's Bella and Sean when you need them?"
She sensed movement behind her and saw Dan, Tracy, and Tobias begin to wake up.
"Would some one tell me WHAT THE HELL is going on here?" Crystal shrieked.
Tracy explained the all thing to Crystal while Dan and Tobias looked around the dark room with floating balls of coldfire.
"There's no need for that."
All four guardians turned around to see a huge sheet of ice move. There sat Daikkun on a majestic throne of ice and sapphires. Next to him was a ice tube with Amphrite in it. She wore a light, almost white, blue dress and had pearl-shaped diamond bracelets. She looked so helpless.
Why isn't she fighting back? Crystal thought angrily.
In some worlds, Tobias began to answer, I've heard that you can make your daughter your slave. That was how lowly they thought of women.
Tracy felt her blood boiling and she glanced over at Dan. Startled, she realized that whatever anger she felt could not be compared to what her sworn brother felt.
Daikkun shook his head, sadly. "If you think that this is bad, you should see how other fathers treat their daughters. I wanted her to leave this place, but the only place I thought was better was the Beyond. And there was no way she could leave legally unless she married some. It didn't have to be truly, it just have to be marriage. I wanted her to have Tobias, but YOU," he scowled at Tracy," got in the way."
Tracy's blood pressure was getting a bit too high. "Don't push it "
"And you," he glared at Dan," ALSO got in the way."
Dan growled. "How could you do that to Tracy, Tobias, or Amphrite? You don't care about your daughter much, do you?"
"Of course I do."
"Then why do you have her locked up?"
"She defied me. She DESERVES TO BE PUNISHED."
Amphrite banged on the ice, only to be electrified. Dan felt her pain as if she was a part of him. He transformed into his King form. "No I won't let you do this. I WON'T LET YOU!"
He lunged at Daikkun with a powerful fireball. The lord flew out of the way and shot some sort of light at Dan. "SHAPESHIFTERS! Get them!"
Six, mass-less objects flew at Crystal, Tobias, and Tracy. Tracy pushed Tobias out of the way. "You go take care of Daikkun. Tell Dan to get Amphrite he's be best suited for the job. Crystal and I will take care of these shapeshifters."
Tobias glanced at her briefly, but then decided to take her word. He pulled out his Air Dragon Saber and headed for Daikkun.
As soon as he left, Tracy transformed into her Indian Sorceress form. Crystal transformed into her first armor. The air guardian took out the Water Dragon Saber and Crystal took out her silver chain whip.
"Lets away."
Daikkun blocked the next blow. This mage was strong. Very strong. But no match for the lord of the realm.
Dan felt himself being blasted again and again until he couldn't take anymore.
Tobias sighed in the shadows. This was a good time to take over. He twirled his saber. His best friend could be a fool some times.
Dan prepared himself for another blow but it never came. He looked up and saw Tobias standing there, with one of the four dragon sabers shielding him.
The dragon saber.
Oh.
Duh.
Dan drew out his Fire Dragon Saber.
"No."
"What?"
Tobias didn't turn around to talk to him. He had to keep both eyes on Daikkun. "Go after Amphrite. Tracy and Crystal are fighting the shapeshifters. Go after Amphrite. NOW!"
With that, and no more to be said, Dan ran off to the nymph.
"Well now," Tobias faced the lord and smiled a bit evilly," it's just you and me, isn't it?"
