she smiles as you pop a pretty cherry
into her mouth,
giggles as your fingers stroke
her lips.
your other hand pats her hair,
and your whole being reads
i love you.

from the corner,
i watch with blank eyes,
but my cries are muted

(because i know i could never be
as beautiful as her)


i realized after i wrote it that it kind of sounds like i'm talking about sex. well, um, i'm not. so.
