How to Live in the Sun

I won't give in, but I do give up
Like the rattle of pills in a Dixie cup

Go to work stoned. Go to school and then carry your loose body home.
Then wake up drunk. Curse the sky and tell God you mean it this time.

Sleep in your boots. Shake yourself from sleep after four hours or so.
Then chip your tooth. Bite the ground while getting the shit kicked out of you.

Sadness: not a stone, or drop of blood, or any other thing
Sadness: nothing like a bloom that has been chilled with frost

Sadness: all the things that I will never be
Sadness: it makes me smile (it remembers me)
