A/N: Since I'm currently working on a big project, the sequel to Whatever You Want is going to have to wait until the other project is done. I think the big project will be done at the end of June. Until then here is a short story I wrote. It was first published in Yaoi Magazine (Vol. 1, Issue 2, April 2008). I retain all copyrights. The story has explicit content. Enjoy!

"And that's why I hate men!" Kaye said firmly, his fist slamming down on the cafeteria table.

Jade gave him a strange look, her brown eyes shining with bewilderment, as if she wasn't sure if she was supposed to laugh or not. Mael was unmoved by his declaration, instead concentrating on his economics' book. Then again, Kaye didn't expect Mael to react to what he said. Mael had heard this rant before.

"So," Jade said, her pink lips twitching, "you're telling me that you hate men because some random carnival fortune teller you met when you were ten said you were going to fall in love with the first guy you kissed?"

Kaye nodded, his fringe of golden brown hair bobbing up and down over his forehead. "I'm serious. You don't understand. At first I didn't believe it either, but then all these guys started hitting on me. Some have even tried to-to, well never mind what they tried to do. On top of all that-"

Kaye's face turned red as if it was just too horrible to relate. Jade leaned forward, waiting for what was to come next.

"He's never had a girlfriend," Mael finished for him while turning the page of his book.

"Right! It's a curse!" Kaye said while shaking his head rigorously, giving him a look that wasn't that far from a golden retriever, but dopier. "A curse of gayness. Not that I'm gay, but I make men gay."

Jade arched an eyebrow. "Don't you think you're being a bit, I don't know, dramatic? Besides, you haven't made Mael gay."

Kaye crossed his arms and his lower lip stuck out just the tiniest bit. "I don't think I'm being dramatic at all, and Mael doesn't count. He's my bodyguard."

Jade shook her head and looked at Mael. "Do you really believe this?"

Mael finally looked up from his book, using one finger to slide his glasses back up the bridge of his nose and shrugged. Kaye found himself staring at the strands of white blonde hair, which slid off Mael's shoulder. Kaye didn't understand why Mael kept his hair long, almost to the middle of his back, when he was supposed to be going into business. Didn't businessmen have short hair and look less...less like Mael, with his lips always tilted in a slight curve like he had a secret no one else knew and deep hazel eyes that swirled in thought and burned with intensity. Eyes that now shifted to look at Kaye.

Kaye jerked up as if he had been caught doing something he shouldn't have, although he couldn't quite figure out why he felt that way. A flicker of amusement darted across Mael's eyes before he focused back on Jade.

"He believes it and I can't deny that he does seem to draw that sort of attention," Mael said. "Though whether it's a curse or not is up to interpretation."

Jade shook her head, black hair dancing across her back. "Kaye I expect to believe in curse, but not you Mael."

"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?" Kaye said, leaning forward to give Jade a good glare.

Jade laughed and reached out, ruffling Kaye's hair. "You're like a lost puppy, trusting anyone who'll take you home and feed you."

Kaye glared at her. "That's not true! Tell her Mael."

Mael put his book down on the table and calmly reached over and grabbed Kaye's chin. Kaye stiffened in surprise as Mael's thumb ghosted over his cheek, and then slide up to stroke over the curve of his ear. A shiver danced over Kaye's back, his lips parting as his breath quickened. Mael's intense eyes bore into Kaye's green ones, as if searching for some answer in their depths. What they found, Kaye wasn't sure. For a moment he couldn't think, he could only stare into Mael's swirling hazel eyes.

A wide smile curled Mael's lips. "Good puppy."

Confusion crossed Kaye's brow, and then he blinked as it finally clicked. Kaye smacked Mael's hand away. "Bastard."

Mael just leaned back in his chair with a satisfied smirk on his lips. Jade laughed and Kaye tried to figure out why his heart was beating so hard.

After lunch and a tedious economics class, Kaye still hadn't figured the heart thing out, but he was sure that a visit to the med center would clear things up. What he did figure out was that he definitely needed to find a girlfriend this year. Of course it was the same resolution he made every year since he was ten, but he was nineteen now and in his second year of college.

"I'm not a boy anymore, I'm a man," he said, thumping his fist against his chest, which got him a few strange looks, but he ignored them. He even managed to grow two inches over the summer making him 5'7 instead of the shameful 5'5 he had been his first year of college.

This year he was determined to stop getting those giggling answers from girls who said they thought of him as a cute younger brother or a playful pup. He still couldn't believe how many times girls had compared him to a puppy. He was no puppy! He was a dog, no-a wolf, dammit!

He frowned. That didn't sound right either. Well the point was that he would finally get a girlfriend and beat this curse. Nodding firmly to himself, he walked into the student center, looking around the lounge for Jade. He frowned when he didn't see her. They were supposed to meet to go over their Spanish homework, mostly to help Kaye since he pretty much sucked at languages. Kaye's brow furrowed as he tried to figure out where she could be. After waiting another ten minutes he began to wander the student center, when he didn't see her on the first floor he went to the second floor.

She might've gone into one of the conference rooms on the second floor. They were usually empty around this time since most of the faculty meetings were over and student clubs usually didn't start until late in the evening. He walked down the nearly deserted hall, peeking his head into different conference rooms. No Jade. He frowned and pulled out his cell phone, dialing her number. The phone rang and to his surprise the familiar music of 'Butterfly' began to sound not too far from him. It came from a conference room Kaye hadn't checked, because it was usually locked.

Hairs on the back of his neck stood up, because, even though he was pretty sure that was Jade's ring tone, she still hadn't picked up. He hung up the phone and pushed the door open.

He found Jade. She was sitting in a chair glaring fiercely as three guys crowded around her. One of the guys was sitting next to her, his hand brushing up and down her thigh. When Kaye opened the door everyone looked up, including Jade. She was trembling.

"What the hell do you want?" The guy who was now fingering the edge of Jade's skirt said.

Kaye didn't say anything; instead he marched up and slammed his fist into Mr. Molester's face. The guy's chair toppled over and he landed, splayed out, on the floor. The other two guys stared with stun expressions on their faces.

"Get out of here Jade," Kaye said, his green eyes narrowing.

Jade nodded her head and quickly rushed to the door. One of the guys tried to grab her, but Kaye seized his hand. With some relief, Kaye saw Jade make it out the door, right before an elbow crashed into his face. Kaye stumbled backwards.

"Fuck, that hurt," Kaye said as he looked up, his fingers brushing over his lips. It was bleeding.

The guy Kaye punched spoke up. "It's going to hurt a lot more than that."

They rushed him. Kaye thought he finally had a chance to try out his karate moves although so far he there had been only 2 classes. Yeah, he was so screwed. Still, he managed to get some hits in. If this had been a one-on-one fight he might have kicked some serious ass, but with the odds being three-to-one he eventually found himself on his knees with one guy on either side of him, pinning his arms down against his back.

The leader of the trio stepped in front of him, grabbing a fistful of Kaye's hair, jerking Kaye's head up. Satisfaction passed through Kaye when he saw the large bruise on Mr. Molester's cheek where Kaye had punched him. Mr. Molester stared at him. Kaye felt a chill go down his spine.

"I think you owe me for my troubles, and a mouth is a mouth."

Kaye couldn't believe this. That damn curse! "What the hell? If you're gay you shouldn't have messed with her in the first place."

The guy backhanded him across the face. "I'm not fucking gay!" He took a deep breath and grinned. "But a blowjob is good no matter who's giving it to you. Now open wide."

"I'll bite it off," Kaye said, his green eyes flaring with rage.

"You do that and I'll beat the living shit out of you. Then we'll go find that girlfriend of yours. You understand?"

Real fear crept over Kaye. If they beat him up and then went after Jade what could he do? The guy laughed and began unzipping his pants. Kaye struggled against the hands holding him down, but he knew he couldn't do a single thing. He squeezed his eyes shut and waited.

Nothing happened. Suddenly a strangle gasp filled the room. Kaye's eyes snapped open and he watched Mr. Molester topple over, but this time he wasn't getting back up. Kaye looked up and let out a sigh of relief.

"Mael," he said and he felt his arms released.

He tried to get up, but he couldn't move, instead he slid the rest way down until his face was pressed against the carpet. He watched Mael's fist connect into one guy's solar plexus while he slammed the other guy on the floor. Kaye wanted to help, but he couldn't move. In the end he knew he didn't need to get up. Mael was a black belt in Judo after all. Kaye closed his eyes with the image of Mael's white-blonde hair dancing in the air as he threw one of the guys over his shoulder, like an avenging angel, Kaye's avenging angel.

When Kaye woke up, he was surprised to find he was in his dorm room. He groaned, feeling all the hurts, and tried to sit up. He was halfway up when a strong hand pressed against his chest.

"Lay down," Mael's rich voice spilled over him.

Kaye slid back down while Mael settled down into a chair next to Kaye's bed. Mael reached over and dabbed at Kaye's cut lip with a wet cloth. Kaye waited until Mael finished before speaking.

"Thanks," Kaye said.

Mael shrugged his shoulders. "I'm your bodyguard, aren't I?"

"No," Kaye said, trying to somehow put into words all the swelling of feelings inside of him, despite how painful it was to speak pass his injured mouth. Kaye slowly reached up, his hand moving over the face many a girl had fallen for, up until his fingers tangled into white blond locks, usually tied back, but were now flowing freely over Kaye's hands. "Angel."

Mael's eyes widened and his lips twisted into a sardonic smile. "Angel? I don't think so, far from it." Mael's eyes narrowed. "When I saw those guys-"

"They deserved it," Kaye croaked out.

Mael nodded and then gave Kaye a strange look, before leaning down. Kaye's breath caught and for a moment he though Mael was about to kiss him, instead Mael whispered softly to him.

"If I'm an angel then I've already fallen."

Confused, Kaye tried to figure out what he meant, but his thoughts were interrupted as Jade came in and Mael straightened up.

"You're ok," Mael asked.

Jade nodded and looked over at Kaye, and to his surprise Kaye suddenly had an armful of weeping Jade. Kaye winced at the impact and Jade quickly pulled away, but she grabbed his hand in hers, tears sliding down her face.

"Thank you, Kaye, thank you."

Kaye looked away in embarrassment, not sure how to react. He had never seen Jade cry before. "It's ok."

"But, because of me-"

"Hey, not you, them; if you really want to make it up to me, don't call me a puppy anymore."

She laughed through the tears. Kaye thought she looked sort of pretty that way. "All right, I promise," she said.

"You better. Mael you hear that? You're my witness," Kaye said, looking up, but Mael was gone.

* * *

Two weeks passed since the incident and Kaye was standing outside the entrance to the state fair grounds with a perplexed look on his face.

"Tell me again why I'm here."

Jade hooked her arms through his with a wide smile. "Because I wanted to come, and besides, maybe we can find a fortune teller to somehow fix this curse of yours."

Kaye sighed and looked at her, giving her a hesitant smile. Jade had been doing that a lot, clinging to him and asking him to go places with her. It probably had something to do with those guys. Even if they hadn't managed to do anything to her the situation must have been pretty scary for her. As to Kaye, well, he was just relieved that the Dean had taken care of the situation after they had reported it.

"Fine, fine," Kaye said, smiling at her. "But you have to talk to the fortune teller once we find one. I don't want to end up getting a double hex or something."

Jade laughed at that. "Don't worry. I'll protect you."

He chuckled and looked around. "So where's Mael? I thought he was meeting us here."

Jade frowned at him. "Don't worry, he'll catch up. Come on, let's go."

"B-but-" Kaye stammered, but he was already being dragged along.

Jade led them to the shooting range, where she demanded that Kaye win her a prize. Sighing heavily, he paid the man far too much of his hard earned money to get a chance to shoot. To his utter surprise, Kaye actually managed to win and he watched as Jade picked out a giant panda bear as her prize. As the man gave her the stuffed animal, she looked happier than she had been in weeks. She turned to him and winked.

“Now that you won me my prize, let’s go find that fortune teller.”

After a round of ‘ooh we should go on that ride and that one’ and an impromptu stop at a cotton candy vendor (who could blame Kaye if he had a sweet tooth and the best cotton candy was always at carnivals) they finally reached the fortune teller. Actually it was the place where the fortune teller should've been, but instead there was a table with a sign that read, ‘Madame Jorella will be gone for the rest of the day due to an emergency.’

Jade looked crestfallen by the news and Kaye couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed as well, but he hadn’t really expected anything to come from it. He started to tell Jade they could just come back another time when he felt something brush the back of his neck.

“Ahhh!” he yelped as he spun around, coming face to face with Mael. A Cheshire grin was plastered onto Mael's face. Kaye glared at him. “Don’t do that!”

Mael shrugged and looked at Jade. “Why the gloomy face?”

Jade shook her head. “It’s nothing. I had just hoped to see the fortune teller.”

“There’s always tomorrow Jade,” Kaye said. “Don’t think I’m letting you get out of it so easily.”

Jade brightened up at that. She moved forward, as if to say something, when Mael’s arm slung around Kaye’s shoulders.

“Come on, Kaye, let’s ride that rollercoaster you’ve been talking about.” Mael adjusted his glasses and looked at Jade. “You don’t mind, do you, Jade? You can’t ride with that panda of yours.”

Jade looked like she was getting ready to protest, but Kaye gave her the puppy dog look. “Just this ride Jade, and then we can take turns holding your bear and going on rides.”

Sighing, Jade nodded. “Ok, but then you have to go on any ride I pick next.”

“Deal,” Kaye said and then he was excitedly pulling Mael to the Rocker’s Coaster. He had heard the ride was great. It played hard rock, and depending on the song, as you rode the car it would vibrate before spinning you down into a loop so fast that for a minute your breath stopped. It was part of the reason he let himself be talked into coming to the carnival at all. He missed the rides.

The line was pretty long, but Mael kept his attention. For the last two weeks he had felt more comfortable with Mael than ever before. It hadn’t been the first time Mael had protected him. It was actually how they met. In high school he had been harassed by a teacher and it was Mael that saved him. After that they had been inseparable, and though Kaye often told people he kept Mael around as his bodyguard, it was Mael's friendship that was the most important to him.

“Why do you stick with me?” Kaye blurted out.

Mael arched an eyebrow. “Come again?”

Kaye ran a hand through his hair, feeling stupid, but now that he had asked he wanted an answer. “I mean. I’m always causing you trouble. Since you've met me you’ve been in ten fights.”

“Twelve fights,” Mael corrected.

“Ok, twelve, so why do you stick around? I mean you protect me, you're smart, the girls love you and you’re fun to hang with. So, it’s not like you need me, so why do you stick around?”

Mael clutched his chin. “That’s a good question.”

Kaye glared at him. “Asshole.”

“Your charming demeanor?”

Kaye swore under his breath and moved up as the line progressed. It bothered him, he desperately wanted an answer.

“There are many reasons. I like you, I like that you need me and, most importantly, you make me laugh.”

Kaye turned around and looked at him. “Lame,” he said but he couldn’t hide the smile that tugged at his lips and the sudden lift in his mood.

As the line shifted up, there was a sudden surge from the back as people rushed forward. Mael was shoved into his back and Kaye lost his balance and tumbled forward, but before he could land face first on his face an arm was slung around his waist.

"Are you ok?" Mael said. His voice was a soft curl beside Kaye's ear.

At that moment, Kaye was vividly aware of how he was pressed against the length of Mael's body as if he was made to be there. The thought made a flush rise on his cheek and he broke away from Mael.

"Yeah, I'm ok," Kaye said, careful not to turn around and look at Mael. He didn't think he could explain away the blush. He wasn't even sure why he was so embarrassed. Behind him he could swear he heard Mael chuckle.

By the time his cheeks cooled it was their turn. All thoughts were swept away in the excitement of the rollercoaster. Kaye was reminded why he used to love carnivals. After the ride, he was practically hopping up and down with unspent adrenaline.

"And then that dive followed by that loop, I felt like my stomach was in my throat," Kaye said. "It was awesome!"

Mael nodded. "Definitely worth the wait."

Kaye smiled brightly up at him. Mael smiled softly and reached out, ruffling Kaye's hair. Without realizing it, Kaye leaned into the touch, a soft sigh of pleasure spilling pass his lips. Mael's hands froze. Kaye snapped to attention, realizing that little sigh of his was probably just a bit weird. He searched for an explanation, not meeting Mael's eyes when Jade thankfully interrupted.

"Ride good? Great," she said and shoved the panda at Mael and then grabbed Kaye's hand. "Come on, I know the ride I want to go on."

Kaye looked sheepishly at Mael, who was left holding a giant panda as Jade dragged Kaye away. They headed pass several of the rides, bypassing the games until Kaye was sure that Jade had obviously gotten lost, until she stopped and pointed.

"There!"

Kaye blinked and then stared at the nearly deserted funhouse. "This is where you wanted to take me?"

Jade nodded her head firmly. "Yeah, come on."

Yanked along, they gave their ticket to the man in front of the funhouse entrance who looked extremely bored, barely paying them any attention. Inside they immediately found themselves within a maze.

"I don't get it," Kaye said as he wandered around the maze, bumping into a mirror. The scent of cinnamon mixed with grease clung in the air. "Mael could have come with us if it was just a funhouse."

"No he couldn't," Jade said and stopped.

Kaye looked at her, completely confused. "Huh? What? Are you mad at Mael?"

"No," Jade said with a laugh. "I just don't want an audience."

"Huh?"

Jade turned to face him and bit her bottom lip. "Maybe I should have taken us on the ferris wheel or the love boat and then you might have gotten it."

"L-love boat?"

"I chose this place because no one really comes here and it also gives me the chance to bail if things go wrong," Jade explained quickly.

As she talked it finally started to dawn on Kaye what was going on. He could only look on in disbelief.

"It looks like you get it," she wrung her hands as she spoke. It was a very un-Jade-like thing to do. "I like you."

"But why? All of a sudden?"

"When you saved me back then, I just saw it and now whenever I'm near you my heart starts beating hard and my stomach does flip-flops. I really like you Kaye."

"That doesn't make sense," Kaye said, taking a step back. Weren't those the same reactions he had started feeling around Mael? "I-it's admiration."

"Maybe it started that way Kaye," Jade said, stepping forward. "But it didn't stop. I still feel that way. I know it's out of the blue, but I want to be someone special to you." She laughed. "And if you really think you're cursed, well here's the perfect way to break it, right?"

Kaye looked at Jade, really looked at her, with her flowing black hair, pink upturned mouth and wide brown eyes. She was really cute, any guy would want her, and she was right, this was a great opportunity to get rid of the fear of his curse. There was no reason to say no besides the feeling in his gut saying it was wrong.

"Jade, I can't."

Jade shook her head. "Please don't say no right now. At least think about it."

Slowly, Kaye nodded. "Thank you." And then before he could say anything else Jade ran out of the funhouse and Kaye was left standing there. He leaned against one of the mirrors and looked down at the floor.

"I don't know what to do."

"What do you want to do?"

Kaye's head jerked up. "Mael!"

Mael came around the corner of the mirror maze. His face a careful blank that made Kaye frown. "So you heard?"

Nodding, he moved closer to Kaye. "It was pretty obvious."

"Yeah, I guess I'm just slow."

"Yes, incredibly so. You didn't answer the question."

Kaye looked at him blankly before it clicked. "Oh you mean what do I want to do?"

Mael nodded.

Kaye shrugged. "I just don't know. Jade's my friend. She's attractive, we get along, I mean, there's no reason not to say yes."

"So why don't you?"

Kaye's brow furrowed. "I don't know."

Mael stepped closer and Kaye suddenly realized that Mael was a little too close. "Mael?"

"You can't be indecisive when it comes to other people's feelings."

"W-what? Are you angry? I'm not trying to mess with Jade's fe-" Before Kaye could finish Mael's hand was over his mouth.

Mael leaned over and placed a kiss on the hand that separated their lips. "Do you understand?"

Kaye's eyes widened and Mael pulled his hand away. "Mael!"

Mael grinned and before Kaye could react, Mael grabbed his wrists, pulling them above Kaye's head.

"What are you doing?"

Mael grinned and whispered in his ear. "If I can't show you how I feel with a kiss, then I'll have to show you another way."

Mael's hand rubbed over the front of Kaye's jeans and started stroking over his clothed dick. Kaye arched up, sharply sucking his breath in at the sensation. "Don't."

"Why? Doesn't it feel good?"

It did. It felt so good that already Kaye was hard and straining against his pants just from the touch and the sound of Mael's alluring voice.

"You're so innocent Kaye, so trusting," Mael said as his hand slid up and unfastened the top of Kaye's jeans and slowly dragged down the zipper. "You even called me an angel."

"W-why?" Kaye said, his breath coming out in pants as Mael's hands dipped inside of his jeans and brushed over the tip of Kaye's cock.

"Because I want you. I was waiting for you to come to me, but now with Jade's intrusion," He grinned wickedly as his hand wrapped around Kaye's cock and began to slowly stroke up and down, "I had to speed things up."

Kaye gasped, straining against the hand pinning him. Kaye's hips moved as if they had a life of their own as he thrust into Mael's fist. It was hard to think, all he could do was feel.

"You're beautiful this way. My captured pet."

He shivered and suddenly the hot hand was gone and Kaye couldn't contain the whimper that spilled from his throat. "Mael?" he whispered.

Mael chuckled. "I'm right here." He left go of Kaye's wrist. "Turn around."

Kaye felt dimly that he shouldn't obey, that now was his chance to leave, but all those thoughts were just background noise to the lust rushing around him. He turned.

"Good boy," Mael said, the amusement still in his voice.

Cool air hit his skin as Kaye's pants were tugged down and he suddenly realized what he agreed to with his movement.

"Wait!"

Mael's hand went to Kaye's cock again, stroking it up and down. Kaye groaned, bracing his hands against the mirror.

"Look at yourself," Mael ordered

Kaye lifted his head and saw his reflection-bent over, flushed and panting as Mael pumped his cock. He shivered and felt himself grow even harder.

"How can I resist such an image?" Mael asked as he licked his fingers and then slid them into Kaye's entrance.

Kaye stiffened at the pain and strangeness of the feeling. For a moment reason returned to him. "Mael, this is too far!"

Then the fingers curled inside of him, and a jolt of pure ecstasy left him shaking. His fingers dragged against the glass as he let out a moan.

"Better?" Mael asked with a smirk.

Kaye didn't care if Mael was smirking; all he cared about was that amazing feeling that lit up his entire body. He bucked his hips wanting to feel it again. "Mael, please."

Mael moved his fingers, brushing them over that spot again and another wave of intense pleasure when through Kaye. "Oh fuck!"

Mael brushed over the spot once, twice and then stopped. "Tell me Kaye, should I keep going?"

Kaye was pretty sure that was a valid question, but right now Kaye could only focus on the sensations clambering through him. Why the hell was Mael asking him stupid questions anyway? "Don't stop."

The fingers moved again and Kaye was lost in pleasure, the pull of his cock and the thrust of the fingers were driving him wild and he could feel himself getting close. He half realized he was making soft noises in the back of his throat that mixed in with the moans that came out.

Then the fingers slipped out and were replaced with something bigger and harder. A wave of panic went through Kaye and he stiffened.

"I won't enter you," Mael said, his voice thick with desire. "I just want to feel you."

Kaye relaxed against him, since it was really too hard to thinking when Mael quickened the pace of his hand on Kaye's cock. Mael's other hand moved to wrap around Kaye's waist, pulling him closer as Mael rubbed up and down the crack of Kaye's ass. It felt great, almost as good as the fingers that had been inside of him.

Kaye was so close and he was amazed he hadn't already come by now, the feelings were so intense, like ever nerve was on tiptoe waiting to fly and then he looked up, catching his and Mael's reflection in the mirror. Mael's lips were parted, with sweat sliding down that perfect face, lust hooding his eyes and Kaye knew he was the one to cause that expression.

He came, hard. White seed spilled on glass with a pleasure somehow forbidden and perfect. Behind him he could feel hot seed rain over his ass as Mael came with a growl. It was like flying and somehow Mael was holding him, keeping him from falling.

When he finally came down from the high of bliss, he found that Mael was in a tight t-shirt and was using his button up shirt to clean them up. Kaye got up and they dressed in silence and found their way out of the maze. Kaye's brow furrowed. As they walked out of the funhouse into open air it felt like everything that happened was just a dream.

"What happened to the panda," Kaye asked.

Mael smiled. "I gave it to a very cute 10 year old girl. She was very happy."

"Jade is going to be pissed."

Mael shrugged, his eyes narrowing slightly at the mention of Jade. Kaye stood there, not sure what to say. So he said the first thing that came into his head.

"You don't have to protect me," he blurted out.

"I know," Mael said softly, and then he was walking away, and Kaye watched him go.

* * *

"It's been three days, Kaye," Jade said as she looked up at him from her Spanish book.

Kaye grunted. He was quite aware of that. Three days since Mael had done all those things to him in the funhouse that still made him blush whenever he though of them. Three days and he still felt that strange feeling in his stomach that changed into a pain in his chest when he was reminded that it was also three days since he had last seen Mael.

"Kaye, are you listening to me?"

Kaye looked up, almost startled to see it was Jade looking back at him. "Yeah, I was just thinking of something."

"Hopefully about what I said to you," Jade said.

Kaye blinked and realized with a flush that Jade was referring to her confession. How the hell did he forget something so important?

Jade sighed. "I guess that means that's my answer."

She brushed her hair off her shoulder and Kaye looked at her with a contrite expression on his face.

"Jade you're great. It's just..."

"I'm not the one, right?"

Kaye looked away. "I don't think there is a one."

"Are you really sure about that?" Jade asked.

Kaye 's head jerked back to look at her. "What?"

Jade grabbed her bag and slung it over her shoulder. "I wonder how Mael's doing. You probably miss him. Aren't you two always together?"

Kaye gaped at her as Jade walked out of the study room. Kaye couldn't believe what she was insinuating. She couldn't mean...but his heart tightened in his chest and whenever he though of him there was all these funny feelings and he just wanted to go and see him, touch him, hear his voice.

"Mael."

Before he knew what was happening he was moving, down the hall, out of the building and across campus. Moving until he had started to run, running and running until he was there at the small apartment building Mael stayed at and he started to buzz him, but this lady was coming out so he just ducked in and climbed the stairs, until he was knocking at Mael's door, standing there and hoping someone would be there, because he wasn't sure he had the courage to do this again.

The door opened.

"Kaye?" Mael asked.

He didn't think about, he just acted. He flung himself forward and wrapped his arms around Mael's neck. Mael stumbled backwards with the sudden impact and they tumbled to the floor in a tangle of limbs.

"Kaye! What are you-"

Kaye cut him off as he pressed his lips against Mael's. For a moment Mael didn't respond and Kaye was sure he had made a mistake, until those arms tightened around him and suddenly his mouth was being ravaged. He was lost in a kiss that was heat, lust and this pinch of something more that made it even better than anything he ever felt before. He pressed closer, letting his breath mix with Mael's until they were left with no breath at all and had to pull apart, gasping.

"Y-you know," Kaye panted out, "this means you're stuck with me."

Mael grinned up at him, his hair spread around him like a halo. No matter what Mael might say, Kaye knew Mael was his personal angel. Even when Mael's lips curled into a devilish grin, he knew that would never change.

"Didn't you know?" Mael said. "That was my plan all along."
