Beyond The Yellow Brick Road

Somewhere, under the rainbow,

Lays your home. Where you can wake,

Wrapped in a warm blanket’s hold.

Where everything is simpler,

Black and white.

You have no guilt because you’ve killed,

No matter what a wicked witch she was.

You have no obligations but

To feed the pigs and wait for the sun

To rise.

But you are no good at waiting

And you were one step from being

Where you’ve always wanted.

Now you have to wake up and

Let it drift away as a distant dream.

No more yellow brick roads,

And ruby slippers and emerald cities.

Now you are living in

Black and white.

Now you have to herd the chickens

And pretend the only escape is in your

Daydreams.

You liked it better when you didn’t know

What color was.
