Chaos Ascension: Origins

Chapter 4

Questions and answers

It was an abrupt awaking for the cyborg, after had been left with damaged bill to repair the bathroom. It hadn’t been easy settling down into his share home with Wallace. Not after what had happened already, he couldn’t comprehend it being all true.

“Kesrick are you coming downstairs to help out?” Wallace called up the stair well as the cyborg groaned; he was still trying to recover from another night out. It had been two weeks since he had a run in with the weirdo’s, the bunch that he had to fork out most of his money to pay for the bathroom renovation.

Wallace was being lenient towards his flat mate though Kesrick had to work hard and keep everything in order. Though he was starting to miss the action he used to have when he was in the army. The idea of going battle saving refugees and shooting the enemy, then again he paused as the onslaught of tremor flood into his fore mind.

“That part of my life is over, please just go away” he muttered to himself as he climbed down the stairs one after the other. By the time he got into the store area couple of customers bantering about over the latest hunting season looming. Gorham forests seemed to harbor the odd game of deer, bear and any other creature the people want to shoot and hang on the wall. Wallace turn to see Kesrick wander in and sat down next to him “Another day of business, selling anything” he asked as he noted the till waiting to be filled with money.

“Patient is a virtue, even if it means that could end up loosing the business” Wallace muttered to his colleague. Soon enough the two men ended there discussion and went to the till with a box of bullets. “Wallace you ever consider hunting? You should come out with us” one of them said as they paid the money to him.

“You know I wasn’t into hunting much, my father use to be one who dragged me out of bed and into the forest for him to hunt” he reminisced about his childhood.

Kesrick yawned as he got out from behind the counter and wander towards the front window. It was then he spotted a familiar car that sparked him wanting to make a dash for it.

Over the other side of the road the small supermarket was open, inside residents shopped amongst them DD and Vincent. They were buying their supplies for the week; DD is annoyed by Vincent’s singing to a tune over the P.A. system. DD shook her head she couldn’t help smile. “Obvious for an angel to sing a song about Mercy” DD chuckled; Vincent pranced about like a little child, soon enough he turned into an unknown isle they tend not to wander into. Vincent paused as he watched a man staring at several colourful packets on the shelf; he then walked along and halted in front of them. His eyes gaze upon each product then picked one up then he picked another one and stared at them.

There on the packaging various erotic images of man and woman’s body in suggestive poses, all naked he raised an eyebrow at them.

“Package seems so dirty. I never seen anything like this before” he said in a slow disturbing tone. The man stared at him; he quickly grabbed one and headed towards the check out with haste. “Why would you want to buy this?” he trailed off as DD saw him standing there with two packets of condoms in his hand. DD should realize that Vincent isn’t so clued in on everything in this world. Sex was one thing Vincent is skittish on and even the team wonder about his attractions. Though DD didn’t know that Vincent was very sexually inquisitive even more she was. Problem is Vincent was gay had has deep lusting towards men especially one he known for a long time.

“Vincent put those down and come with me” DD pushed the trolley of groceries to the side of the isle as Vincent turned to her with a strange look on his face.

“But what is this? We never go down this isle. It has so much colourful packaging and strange brands” he shrilled as DD gave him a strange look as she pry the two boxes out of the angels pure hands. DD did stare at them for a bit sighing, intimacy was still an on going process for her and Delvin and even she knew what these were.

Vincent was too pure to even consider breaking his celibacy. Obliviously he seems very stimulated or scared as he looked at DD’s face. Then again he isn’t so innocent considering he is what preventing DD from getting what she wants.

“Vincent, no need to look so blank, these are things humans use when they….oh god how to say it” she felt like talking to an overgrown child about the birds and bees. Couple of customers gawked at them soon fled, Chaste walk into the isle and spotted the pair and like a dark cloud waiting to rain upon the land below. The white hair angel turns to see the dark cloud he tends to fear most of.

“What is taking so long? Delvin is getting impatient in the car. Why are you holding condoms DD?” DD almost turned whiter as she placed them back on the shelf.

“Well… Vincent was the one who was curious but thank you for saving me explaining it to him” she shoved the angel into Chaste’s grasps and Vincent was hauled away.

Outside Delvin waited patiently in the car for his team to come out with the groceries. It was then a sudden rat on the drivers’ window caused him to divert his attention as stared. “Delvin open up” Kesrick spoke as Delvin wind the window down at bit and peered through the top “Kesrick how is the bathroom renovation going?” Delvin said smugly as Kesrick wanted to ring his neck; he refrained from lashing out at the eccentric man. The cyborg soon looks up as the menagerie of the team walked out of the store.

“Come here and carry something” DD barked as Chaste opened the car door and shoved Vincent in. Kesrick moved away and went over and gathered a bag or two DD looked at him with surprise.

“Kesrick I haven’t seen you in a while” she said as the man helped her carry the groceries around to the waiting trunk. “Yeah I been like grounded, I know sounds stupid for a man my age to be. Wallace just taken every penny I earn and spurge on a new bathroom” he groaned as they placed the bags into the back. It was then a sudden shrill of a girls voice racing along the verandah over to a woman carrying some bags.

“Mom I saw big foot” she wailed the woman scorned her “There is no such thing” she said the girl continued as then Wallace had come out of the shop and saw Kesrick on the other side of the street.

“Kesrick” he yelled Kesrick sighed DD she could see Delvin’s crimson eyes brooding in the rear view mirror. “Come on DD, we are going home” DD felt a sudden vision in only parts, someone running in fear through the snow they were approaching their homestead. “Right lets go” she said Delvin nodded, she soon left Kesrick side and climbed into the passenger seat it was then Kesrick raced around to the drivers’ side.

“Wait before you take off again. I want to know where you lot live” he said an abruptly as Delvin started up the engine; the window still open a crack as Kesrick growled impatiently Delvin smirked as he drove away.

Kesrick watch the car tear off down the main street “Bastard” he cried out as Wallace stalked over to him, his customers were still talking now outside. They heard the young girls’ outburst and protest to make her mother believe her. It was then another man came rushing along spoken to the men and soon they left.

“Big foot ha, as if a yeti would be in Gorham” Wallace laughed as Kesrick frowned. Kesrick soon walked back over to the side walk in silence.

“Yelling out profanities at them what happened?” the old man opened the door letting his colleague inside once more.

“Do you know where they live?” he grunted in frustration, the mystery around them cloaking their tracks and existence almost seems impossible to believe; much like the sudden “big foot” rumor lingering around the town. Kesrick eyebrows creased as Wallace try to avoid answering the question “Didn’t I tell you not to get so involved with them. They like to be hidden away” his tired words rested upon Kesrick ears; in frustration he thumps the counter almost causing a dent in it. He had enough being cooped up in this small store flat; he wanted out badly even it means finding out where they are hiding from the public.

“Wallace I’m going for a drive give me the keys?” he ask as the old man gave him a look he knew what Kesrick was planning to do. He could tell his determined to go off and leave him here to take care of the store. Then again was he thinking about the perusing the big foot sighting it did make him wonder too.

“Well Kesrick if you’re planning to go and see this Big Foot sighting. I’ll come with you and close up the store” Kesrick felt a little disappointed, he was tired of being baby sat by Wallace.

Kesrick didn’t want to get forceful towards his friend, desire to get rough house with him; though he was desperate to get out of there.

“Wallace it’s my car, I’m going out you stay here” he growled deeply like a lion. His eyes were filled with anger as Wallace backed off “Fine” he threw the keys at Kesrick then races out of the door and into the side alley way. There his four wheel drive waited slightly buried in the snow he quickly dusted it off; before he leapt into the drivers’ seat. Shoving the key into the ignition tried to start it up; it wheezed and coughed like a sick old man. It was then the side door opened and Wallace stood there, Kesrick avoided his stern look; he seemed to relish the fault he is having.

Kesrick thumps the horn loudly, making some pedestrians walking by jump and rush pass the drive way. Soon enough Kesrick tried again and the car soon vroom into life he soon drove out of the alley way, Wallace watch as he closed the door in a huff. It is a time for him to think about his relatives again, they did end up leaving the country the desire to travel was what Wallace wanted to do. He had a long life and even though he did have a wife at one stage he seemed to miss the absence of her.

The forest was alive with hunters who followed the girl. She led them through the snow, dodging the trees they went and soon enough she halted, pointing at the large foot print. The hunters were stunned, the large imprint in the ground was one no animal alive today could make. It had to be at least five or six meters long and it looked like there was more than one. The men went over and examined the prints. One thing was certain; it was only the right foot repeated.

There was no left foot print at all “I don’t believe this? Isn’t big foot like two feet monster” one of the man gruffer as the other scratched his chin.

“Probably someone’s cheap joke, cause they only used a right foot repeatedly” soon enough the hunters all gathered together as the girl kept pointing at the prints which made a trail off into the distance.

“Aren’t you curious to see where the trail goes?” she said in excited voice the men glowered at her with their wrinkled faces. They weren’t impressed

“Might as well go back; not worth seeing anymore” one started to walk away as the other seemed to gaze back at the trail.

“Girl you better go home, your mother is worried about you” then the mother of the girl came rushing over and gathered her up. “You’re coming home right now” she growled angrily, the group gave up on exploring any further; if they did they would have stumbled onto the land where they would have made a bigger discovery. The hunting party went back to the township like defeated pack of animals. One persistent human was still for certain, the one behind the wheel tearing down the empty road.

With keen eyes he drive past the row of houses that seemed to surround the town ship, soon thinned out allowing more of the forest to encroach in, like an army of tall soldiers. Dusted with white and decorated with icicles that sometimes caught the small amounts of sunlight. The ice being ripped and shuffled under the tyres of the car, it made its own way along with precession like an ice skater. Soon enough Kesrick slowed down and saw something he never seen before. A well over grown drive way that had tyre tracks carve freshly into the snow, not to mention the giant trail of foot prints that lead up the way.

Kesrick wondered about the alleged big foot that the girl seemed to spoke of, as he too had already seen strange unexplainable things since he moved to Gorham. As his four wheel drive ambled along the worn cavernous drive way; he considers what he should do next once he stopped. He thought about getting out on foot then he looked into the backseat and realizes he left a rifle tucked careful away.

The car soon stops as he turned the ignition off; he stared around him and off to his left a large Victorian mansion sat in the middle of a clearing.

Climbing out of the car, he closed the door and decided haste to bring the gun along with him just in case. He might be able to use it as a scare tactic, he opens the back door and reached under and curled his glove hand around the cold iron. Pulling it out with ease his rifle rested against his shoulder as he locked up. Inside the house the front room was little over crowded, the surprise visitor sit by the fire rugged up and nursing a warm drink between its palms. Chaste sat opposite with DD next to him, Vincent stood up while Delvin sat next to the visitor tending to his wound.

“You got to help me and my kind; your humans will be in danger too if you don’t dispose of them, the furies are on the loose I was lucky to find your home. I know your kind to us monsters who don’t cause a threat” the visitor said, it was then there was a large thumping knock on the front door. All eyes diverted away as the visitor buried itself in the rug “I can’t believe this, don’t answer the door” Delvin murmured as Vincent perked up.

Chaste shot him a look “No Vincent, let him stay out there. Don’t need a human knowing where here” though Vincent disobey them which startled the group

“You lot such impolite people” he waltz into the hall way and reaches the front door.

On the other side Kesrick pointed the rifle at the wooden door, chuckling inside his head thinking and hoping it was smug Delvin going to answer the door.

“Going to get you good” he muttered as the door opened Vincent almost got a fright “Kesrick” his voiced trailed off in frightful tone, Kesrick stalked forward while Vincent moves aside “May I suggest putting the gun down we have company here” he gestured to the front room where he saw something he couldn’t believe.

Kesrick put his rifle down and strode into the room where Delvin, DD, Chaste at the creature all looking at him. “Kesrick how the heck did you find us?” Delvin scowled as DD just gave a little smile at the cyborg.

Delvin wasn’t too impressed now that Kesrick has sniffed out their hiding place; he knew Kesrick going to be hard to shake curiosity out of his mind. Kesrick notices the small tea set arranged on the table, bone china looked very old what else he also notices the house interior too. Though it was very dimly lit; most of it from the light was from the roaring fire place.

“Easy. Your visitor here led a nice trail to follow. I just drove in the direction you went and found the drive way. Well here I am” he plucked a cupcake from the silver platter and begins eating it, they all given him a look of anxious or disgust. Delvin was mostly given him a cold evil look as DD sighed.

“It was bound to happen, besides whatever Kesrick came for we can’t deal with it right now” she said politely getting up off the chair. “Would you like some tea Mr. Hinslay?” as Kesrick just shook his head and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.

“Well you aren’t going to introduce me to this fellow there. One allusive big foot” as Delvin sneered at the unwelcome visitor. Vincent smiled as he placed a hand on Kesrick shoulder “Kesrick, we all know you’re still mad at us. If that’s why you’re here I can keep you entertained” he said seductive tone which got Chaste up off the chair quickly and yanked the white hair angel away from him. Kesrick raised his eye brow awkwardly. “Kesrick Hinslay, not that your well imbrues with mythical creatures or believe in them existence, this is a Sciopod. Believe to be from the “legendary race of men” of ancient Greece. You can see they a pale and have one giant foot they use to cover themselves from the sun and rain” Delvin words flowed out effortless like he was reading it from a book.

Kesrick notices Chaste keeping Vincent a little strained from being near him, he wondered why he seems to be so protective. Vincent didn’t seem to do him harm so he made a grab for another cupcake. DD had reseated herself down since Kesrick is too wrapped with their estranged visitor. “So why is this creature here in your house?” he waited as Delvin sighed and rolled his eyes, soon enough he albino man popped his head out of the large rug they wrapped him in.

He did look like a Greek god in a miniature form “It’s got nothing to do with you” he growled as Kesrick mouth fell slight open crumbs falling out onto the floor.

DD cleared her throat while Kesrick closes his mouth; he was put in his place as he found a spare chair and sat down.

“Considering I saw a Banshee two weeks ago, now a Sciopod I didn’t think Gorham was the hub for monster activity” he said Delvin had his hand on his head, he run his fingers through his purple locks before looking at the Sciopod.

“Kesrick you can be so rude, at the wrong times. We are so sorry” he apologies to the Sciopod. “I do have a name you know, Elipp Tipdothite I thank you for your hospitality. As for the problem can you help me” he said his eyes searched the room of strangers.

“Of course we can, we are Monsterlogists, we are also controllers of any foreign or mishap creatures that find that lost their way. This is for certain bad news” Delvin taken his glasses off and held them by the thin arm in his finger tips. Kesrick didn’t understand the term he just said now he has some insight; without asking what they do profession wise. “Do you know when was the last time you seen the furies?” DD asked as Elipp sipped the last of the tea from the cup. Chaste and Vincent exchange looks as Delvin looked at DD then at Elipp. Kesrick sat in silence trying to pretend this was all a strange TV show he was watching in front of him.

“I can’t remember I was so scared of them catching me. They wanted to haul me into gate of their sinners; the reapers are going to use them to against the humans. I think… it wasn’t near the town somewhere by the lake. They were all cloaked cause of the horrid forms, horrid witches” he grunts placing the tea cup down on the table. The group seemed to be in deep thought for a moment, it was like they were concentrating and Kesrick could tell by the faces they made. He wanted to be involved, this wasn’t a situation he could devote information into though it fascinated him and worried him at the same time.

“Hmmm there isn’t a lake, I only know Androscoggin River” Kesrick muttered under his breath as he heard an in take of air from body in the room. DD soon opened her eyes as she had a vision that was shared with Delvin who soon replied.

“It could be there, that’s right behind the town ship it’s not even that far to the main river from there” Delvin prophecies as Elipp remained content in the chair. Kesrick sat there smugly, before he soon notice the group getting out of their seats.

“Kesrick thanks for the input as DD would have already told us once she seen it” as Kesrick just snubbed Delvin stopped him from going any further out the door.

The sudden confrontation halted the group in their tracks.

“I’m coming along so you lot can’t have all the fun” he grabbed Delvin’s arm as Delvin tried to pull out of his grip; it was like being wedge in a vice. The cyborg hauled Delvin against the wall as DD soon intervened “Kesrick let him go” she growls tugging on Kesrick’s arm trying to pull him away. Vincent proceeded forward though Chaste held him back “Come on, I don’t find it fair that you are covering these things up. Why can’t you allow me to help you” the cyborg still had Delvin pinned to the wall.

Delvin’s crimsons eyes were filled with rage, his eyebrows creased and he snarled lowly DD still pulling on Kesrick’s arm. It was like watching a kitten trying to pry a lion off its mate. The strength the cyborg projected suppressed the immortal he has in his grasp. Delvin’s skin was solid like garnet when Kesrick let Delvin go, he shoved him aside before standing near the front door.

“Kesrick Hinslay, I just met you and because you got involved with our secrets, you seemed to be proving to be a pain in the ass. But you’re a friend of Wallace’s if he knew you were planning to be interfering with our lives he wouldn’t be happy would he” he scorned at the man. The Sciopod left the chair and still wrapped in the rug the sudden thumping on the floor got the attention.

“Please, I’m concern for the humans too you know they are capable of pulling them into their hell. I just want them gone and standing around here isn’t going to help” Elipp spoke loudly for a very small man. It was like listening to a talking Grecian statue and watching it come to life, it seemed to out of place then again they were probably more surprised than scared. Delvin decided to put his prejudice feelings aside being the head of the group he opens the door “Would you like to drive there Kesrick?” he said politely as the cyborg just muttered something no one could hear and walked out the door.

“Aren’t we teleporting there?” Vincent said in a confused voice as Delvin noticed the cyborg paused in the snowy yard. “Kesrick will lead the way” he gave him a trustful look he realizes that he could save his brooding and anguishes later. “Lead the way” Delvin had waltz to Kesrick side and headed over to their morbid sport vehicle that was waiting under cover out of the snow fall. “Can I go with Kesrick?” Vincent asked as Delvin did note the extra passenger they have to take care of Chaste looked at him

“If you’re going with Kesrick I’m coming too. Elipp, DD and Delvin can easily fit into our car” as the time controller collected the angel into his firm grasp.

“Fine with me, I’ll wait out in the main road until your out” Kesrick yelled as he now felt excited for once in a long time. He did grab his rifle on the way out carrying under his arm he led the two men off the property onto the long drive way that led back out to the main road.

“So this is your car” Vincent seemed not that impressed it was as shiny and classy nor looked powerful compare to Delvin’s sports hybrid.

“Yeah its lasted me a long time, might be a tad dirty, compare to your vehicle it’s a lot more room and able to go off road better” Kesrick sounded like he was trying to sell his vehicle to some potential buyers as he climbed into the drivers seat.

“To be honest Kesrick, Delvin maybe the leader even sometimes we all don’t like the way he thinks. I assure you Delvin will have to realize that you could be a vital missing piece” Chaste said as Vincent leant over from the back seat like a happy dog waiting to go and explore.

“Lets go and hope these furies are still around” Kesrick said as he started up the engine. The convoy begins the four wheel drive waited, idling away with its three occupants Vincent lapping up the leg room avoiding the rifle under the seat. The black worth hearse soon pulled out and they were on their way. The snow fell lightly onto the ground which was soon sloshing and dragged under the tyres and churned out. The two cars reached the township the scene there wasn’t pleasant as Kesrick looked back at Delvin’s car which was slowing down.

“Delvin is pulling up why?” Kesrick said to Chaste as his eyes were squarely out the window, it was then Kesrick pressed down the brake, something had flashed across the road causing his car to slide the horrid friction. Chaste tried to slow it down with his powers the car soon came to a dead stop. There were three cloak figures in black, underneath fiery red hair blanched the blackness inside the hood that covered their faces. The sudden clawed fingers lurched out towards Kesrick’s car, Chaste leant back and grabbed the rifle and leant out the open window.

“Chaste” Kesrick yelled as he started firing at the creature which swooped down and dragged its nails into the bonnet of the car the horrid screech, and then the banging of the gun going off was scaring the locals who saw the strange commotion. It was then Delvin got out of his car and DD locked it as Elipp remained hidden away

“There after me, I don’t want them to kill me” he whimpered as DD watched Delvin emerges and headed towards the Furies with his gun blazing. “Chaste stop it” he growled as the Furies soon saw Delvin with his gun soon directed their attention at him.

“Kesrick drive!” Delvin yelled at the cyborg who was more confused.

Without a doubt Wallace was in the store, soon gazes out the window at the sudden ruckus. He couldn’t believe he saw Kesrick car plus Delvin’s sleek ride of death. The old man stirred out from behind the counter, his customers were glued to the window as he proceeded to head out the door.

The Furies had too many victims to pursue; their attentions soon heighten as they knew their target was inside the black car the man just emerged from.

“Kesrick I’m taking Delvin’s car take care of Vincent” Chaste weary about leaving him but he uses his magic and vanished appearing the in car behind.

Kesrick was revving the cars engine; he soon sped off almost missing car on the side of the strip. The furies soon surrounded Delvin who aimed his gun at them they

“Why you come here?” he said the three women were hissing loudly, their snake like hair leaping wildly about under the hoods. “We come to claim what is ours” one of then shrilled as Delvin tried to control the situation he kept his gun out, the furies had their own weapons in hand. Behind him, the black hearse reversed quickly and started off back away from the township. The furies soon left Delvin and went after the car “No” Delvin said in frustration whirling around shooting at them, it was then Kesrick car pulled up beside him.

“Get in Delvin, no good standing there” Kesrick barked as Delvin leapt into the passenger seat. They sped off down the street and out of the township leaving a bewilder Wallace and locals scratching their heads.

“Trust him to not take my word, then again he isn’t a child” he said noting the crowd that gathered soon dispersed quickly either to hide away from the monsters that they just saw. Or just go back to what they were doing before the distraction. Though Wallace headed back towards the store door and noted the car that pulled up and park outside. The occupants in the car were ones he was fear to see, army officers who probably be wishing to interrogate him over the plane incident.

Two uniformed officers emerged and proceeded over to Wallace, some how he knew it will happen soon than later. He knew who they were, two close comrades who worked there way up to higher ranks.

“Mr. Breen, we are here to investigate the use of one of our cargo planes. May we discuss this matter inside” one of the officers said as Wallace wanted them to leave.

He couldn’t do it so he opened the store door and they filed inside uniformed like well discipline manner. The customers in the store were giving him strange looks and talked in a low tone while they filed out the door.

Chapter 5

Rundown and out

The lone country road way was being tearing up by two speeding cars and three furies flying after them. Everything seemed a blur from inside as Chaste was flooring it, the car almost loosing control on the road. The sudden slashing and tearing of metal alert DD and Elipp as sets of claws dug into the roof. “Chaste do something” DD cries she pulls out her guns and start firing at the creature.

“DD I’m going to have to try and brake hopefully that will throw it off” Chaste looks around him, the Furies were flying wildly about he had to get rid of the one that was clinging onto the front.

Snow flakes were raining into the interior, the monsters attempted to grab the Sciopod who coward away. DD firing several shots, before Chaste hit the brake almost fling them straight out the front of the car. The Fury is fling over the bonnet and onto the road; before Chaste reverses the car squealing its tyres. Kesrick was almost run off the road as the black car bypassed them. The car roof torn off like a tin can as it drove back in the other direction “My car” Delvin as very chagrin as he leant out the window and kept firing at the furies. “This isn’t working how do we stop them? Shooting them doesn’t work” Kesrick was just as frustrated as Delvin was; Vincent remained in the back seat holding on.

“Delvin these creatures aren’t doing this themselves, there has to be a reaper around who is making them do this” Vincent spoke over Delvin’s shoulder he soon gave up shooting, gnashing his teeth together in anger.

“We haven’t detected where the reaper is, for all we know they could have been let into our world and allowed to run ramped” Delvin replies as Kesrick watches the furies swamping around the black car.

“Give him to us” one of them shrilled as the whip lashed about DD grasped onto her wrist as she struggling against pulling it and yet it pulled back. “Chaste do something” she yells as she shoots the whip tie flinging the fury back, another two came back whips and claws ready for the kill.

The Furies attacks scratching and clawing as they tried to get the Sciopod. Chaste used his power and shoved a force field around the creature. “No” Elipp cries as they continued to try and penetrate the shield Chaste enforce the vehicle with. It wasn’t going to last much longer.

“DD we need to get them all together, so I might have open up a gateway to throw them into” Chaste said his knuckles gripping the steering wheel.

One of the furies started whipping the window shield, which DD shot at soon shatters glass as it clawed onto the bonnet snarling. Kesrick was struggling to keep up with the black car, Delvin was getting impatient he starts firing at the furies again trying to keep them off. A sudden sharp bend in the road was coming up ahead, and a large petrol tanker was chugging around it, soon caught the frantic passengers in the black car careering straight towards it. “Chaste do what ever it is now” DD said she tries to fend off the furies as Chaste had to let the barrier on the Sciopod down.

Behind them, Kesrick sees the large vehicle coming up ahead and Chaste was driving straight towards it. “We better do something now, or we going to be wrapped around that” he yelled at his passenger who spotted the large tanker. Vincent was the edge of his seat as he soon couldn’t stand sitting still. “I’m going ahead” he makes a dash for the door handle as Delvin looked the angel “No they will go after you, Chaste must use his power to vacant them out. If they can get the furies to stay on them and crash the car that will bring it to an end” Delvin said, his voice was riddle with anguish, their vehicle had to become a sacrifice to end the pursuit Vincent watches in horror.

“I got to slow down” Kesrick started to hit the brakes yet his car struggled and almost veered off the road. The truck drive wasn’t aware of what was coming straight towards as Chaste had an idea he had to act fast “DD grab Elipp” he yells he floors the car excelorator to the point he was balding the tyres “Chaste NO” DD cries as the Furies now were swamping the vehicle just it crashed straight into truck causing a massive explosion, the furies were caught in the petrol flames. Withering in pain they soon disappeared vanishing into the dark plumes of smoke coming out of the tanker.

Chaste, DD and Elipp appeared quickly in the back of Kesrick’s car startling the occupants inside. The flames engulfed the Delvin’s beloved vehicle; Kesrick slows the car down to a stop to see the devastation. “Kesrick we are ok” DD said from the back seat, his head whipped around to see them all cram into the back of his car. Vincent was relieved he reached over and touched Chaste’s shoulder; this time Chaste didn’t pull the angels hand off. “That probably wouldn’t be the end. Knowing what they are” Delvin words dampened the sudden victory they all had now that it was over.

The flames billowing up into the overcastted sky, Kesrick couldn’t help but feel compelled to get out of the car to help the truck driver. “Kesrick drive away” Delvin voiced ruffled his ears, this wasn’t right to abandoned a crash scene. Knowing the company he was with, Delvin glaring at him he starts the car heads away from the fiery inferno. As the car weaves its way along the snowy path, silence seemed to last a moment before there was talk again.

“Delvin you realize you asked me to abandoned a major accident here. Don’t you ever care about the fact that your actions could back fire” Kesrick said as Delvin just stared out the window as they traveled along.

“We shouldn’t have done that, today so many people now aware of something” DD said in a concern voice as the Sciopod remained snug against her in the blanket. Her eyes were very worried as so Chaste and Vincent they felt utterly exposed the day wasn’t even after dark. Kesrick looks into the rear view mirror; and saw the expressions the passengers behind him gave.

They felt completely ashamed and Delvin remained lost in the scenery that passed by at a rather slow pace. His crimsons eyes and his stubbornness, he wasn’t going to admit he wasn’t what he uses to be.

“At least we buy some time, there is a likely chance that they could come back or they disappeared to regroup with the reaper. For now Elipp should be safe” Chaste said as he soon took Vincent’s hand into his own and turned it over. Vincent was feeling that Chaste was no longer giving him the cold shoulder like he always use to. It been very few moments DD and Delvin see the pair seem contempt in being close together after so many centuries they were all together.

Now they were realizing that they weren’t as powerful as they use to be. Delvin was feeling the burdened of leadership weighing down on him like stone. The idea of taking on another member seemed more of a necessity now; as Kesrick couldn’t take the silence anymore he turned on the radio which got everyone out of the gloom. Vincent perks up as the music played, it was a rare for them to bask in the outside world’s culture and Vincent thrived on being vocal to the songs played. Delvin looked behind at his team deciding when he should make the change.

“Vincent I didn’t know you such a good singer” Kesrick said, his voiced wasn’t too unbearable though Vincent eventually stops when Delvin shot a cold look at him.

“Elipp mind telling us a little more about how you got here? We might as well send you back to your time. No good trying to save you again” his voice seemed on the verge of defeat, he didn’t want to seem weak he needed time. Time to rethink and he didn’t want to deal with anymore problems. He pulls his glasses off and put his fingers to his forehead and rubbing his temple, Kesrick could see the man who thinks he is right isn’t so.

“Delvin, if you’re not going to admit the fact you had enough of this. I think you should take a break” Kesrick found the familiar drive way off the road and begins up it. The everyone was looking at each other very solemnly, there leader was showing the signs of loss in power, and Delvin tries to shove the idea of being the weak in front of them away.

“Kesrick, we have a duty and it’s a long one that will soon end. We been together and apart it’s been an on going fight with our lives and the ones that we touched” Delvin looks at him his eyes were showing sorrow though his lips were tight as he spoke openly.

“Delvin, if you wish to send him back we better do it now. Chaste can you open a portal to the Grecians?” DD said as they came to a stop outside their house. Delvin got out of the car and the rest follow suit, Kesrick climbed out last he watches the others congregate on the snow cover yard. Elipp was very anxious; he looks around the team keeping alert. Chaste soon took out his staff starts it up; it extended from a small narrow cylinder and branched out two glowing beams from either end.

Kesrick watches as Chaste staff extended out from its compacted size it’s was very technological compare to the guns they wield. The sudden thrumming fills the air as Chaste pointed his staff towards the empty space. Soon enough the air tore a hole as a vague image of ancient Greece shimmering behind the invisible curtain.

“Well Elipp time for you to go” DD said as Elipp hopped over to the opening and looked behind at the people. “Thank you for your help” he said before he leap through the doorway and vanished from their sight. Chaste closed the door and soon they were all solemn again, the snow was falling heavier now as the sky had darkened over their heads.

“Delvin, you ok?” DD asks she walks over to him, he seem fixated as he stared at the snow covered ground. His lips thin, his eyes looked distant he soon turns and heads towards the house. Vincent followed up behind the man in black touched him on the shoulder as Delvin opened the door. “Don’t give up, pretty lucky that we managed to help a harmless creature out” he spoke softly as Delvin opened the front door and shrugged the angels hand off. They all entered the house dusting the snowy from their clothes and hanging up their jackets in the hallway.

All of them filed into the front room and sat down once more, DD decides to clear way the cups and plates left there from before.

“Its not enough, I thought we were doing such a good job. Our strengths are weakening over time. Soon the end will come and we have to face it” Delvin he grips a fist of his purple hair, the emotions he keeps tight up inside were taking its toll. Kesrick curiosity was getting worse; he watches their leader crumble slightly bit by bit.

“It won’t end. I might not know what each of you been through but you got things that humans don’t have” he said confidently, Vincent smiles a little while Chaste keeps a straight face, DD was poise in the door way with the tray in her hand.

“Mysterious bunch of people I ever met, I know you know I’m not human. I came so close to death I thought my life will end. If it wasn’t for Wallace I wouldn’t be here today” he said Delvin turns his head towards Kesrick. DD waits patiently with the tray while Vincent and Chaste wonder what point he is making.

“What does that have to do with us?” Vincent queried while Kesrick adjusted himself in the chair. “There is a world out there and you kept yourselves so sheltered. You never probably step out of your comfort zones. Because of your not human….” that made them all a little surprise as Kesrick stood up from his seat.

Delvin injected into Kesrick speech to make a statement of his own on behalf of his team.

“Kesrick we been everywhere, we weren’t all in the shadows all the time. You can’t assume stuff you don’t know anything about” Delvin enforces his opinion onto the cyborg who continued.

“I’m not a human; I am cyborg a human vessel with cyber-kinetics built inside me. Probably the most advance piece of modern day technology existing in your house” he walks around the room and halted by Vincent.

Vincent played with his hair as Kesrick leans closer to the man.

“Tell me now, I bet you will feel a lot better unburdening yourself to me” as Vincent took in a breath

“Now tell me about yourself, starting with you how does angel exist in a human state” Vincent looks around him. Delvin hears DD return with the tray still clasped in her hand she sets it down again. There was a wave of tension and uncomfortable feeling in each of them. Sharing their pasts only they known now, will be learn by someone outside their circle.

“There is a reason to everyone here, we were all brought together. Destiny has given us a role. Being hidden away is what we do to protect the humans. We want acceptance at the same time they don’t need to know everything we are” Vincent gazed at Chaste next to him.

“Destiny you believe in it? For so long you have been doing this work to spare the humans from the monsters they don’t believe in. I suppose if they knew that they did exist the world would be in worse condition as it is” Kesrick recited as he walked back around the couch and stood at the front of the room besides the fire place.

“Kesrick, if you know what we are and why we are here it wasn’t our choice. Some of it was to save us from demise. Some of us want accept that we will deliver a greater result for man kind” Chaste lit up a cigarette and offers one to Delvin who gratefully taken it.

“Some of us don’t know why we are kept here. Overall it is to make ourselves feel worth living even though we gone through a lot. We aren’t human. I’m not, none of us are even you being the same almost we shouldn’t feel so enclosed from keeping ourselves a secret” DD reply as Delvin took her hand in his own and cradle it. It was obvious Delvin and DD had a bond, it was there the way they seemed to interact with each other it was like they known each other for a long time.

Kesrick could see they were just skimming the surface. He really wanted to probe each of them some more. “We aren’t humans, we all were humans at some stage in our lives we all been cursed to live on and on until the end comes and we have to face the biggest war will ever fight for man kind” DD leans close to Delvin who put his cigarette down in the ash tray on the table. “We are immortal tied via this” Delvin rolled up his shirt sleeve to reveal a long scar that ran up his wrist. “If you’re immortal then; why do you bearing a scar that hasn’t heal?” Delvin look at Vincent sternly the angel didn’t want to meet his gaze. “This scar is a curse; it’s what connects us to the weapon. A weapon we have to use to defeat the evil that is below” his voice was cold as DD pulled her hand from Delvin.

“A weapon? Care to tell me more” Kesrick was soon face to face with Delvin who stood right in front of him. “No, for now you better leave. Give us some space will see you again” Delvin turns around and leaves the room. Ascending up the stairs noisily, and then walking along the landing before he closes the door. DD sighed as she stood up apolitically “Sorry Kesrick, It’s been hard to be open about that issue; Delvin probably the worse hit. He is trying to be strong for his own sake. It’s his way of being stable for all of us” Kesrick walked with DD to the front door as she opens it for him.

The cyborg gaze deeply into her brown eyes; she cared deeply for that man.

“DD I want to help you. I’m sure I could contribute to your legacy. I’ll come back tomorrow will start then” he said as DD watches him go out into the snowy darkness. DD closes the door and rests against it, her eyes trailed up to the landing where Delvin stood looking back at her. “DD can I see you alone?” Delvin said as DD climbs the stairs in a slow pace towards him, her eyes searching his, was he willing to unburden the load of pent up stress and emotions that are entangled inside of him.

Two remained in the front room in silence, Vincent’s sad expression was towards the man he grown so close too. He known the look Delvin gave him; he feels the blame for what he done to them. Then again if he didn’t do it everything would have been different. Chaste was one of the few that who is partially grateful for Vincent’s rescue. Though it was everything that happened later on that left him feeling unhinged.

“Do you hate me? For saving you” Vincent said in a soft tone as Chaste leant over and stubbed the dieing cigarette butt into the over crowded ash tray. For the first time in a while Chaste knew the angel was feeling regret for his choices though he knew Vincent was pure at heart and he saved him. Compare to Delvin, the spawning relationship they had Vincent had naturally gone back to him and won him over.

“No, I don’t hate you. None of us do. Though there are times I feel I have given you a hard time” Chaste turned more to face the white hair man.

“Vincent, if you didn’t come for me. I probably been dead” Chaste’s words touched Vincent soul as he was feeling overwhelmed him as he listened to him intently.

“I know I’m glad you don’t hate me” Vincent smiles his brilliant carefree grin touched Chaste’s lips making him smile back. Though he soon removes his hand and got up off the seat “Let’s turn in for now” he suggested as Vincent followed him upstairs into his room closing the door behind him.

Everything had settled in the house once more, the darkness dotted with snow flakes as Kesrick had driven back to the store where he was met with an unsettling sight. He parked in the alley way, he went back out to the front to notice the strange car there marked with the army initials on the door side. Kesrick then remembered Wallace’s gesture to help him; then he couldn’t help but feel up rise of fear for the old mans future.

Kesrick opens the store door with his set of keys and entered quickly stomping snow inside.

It was dark, he turn around locks the door before racing towards the stairs leaving a trail of white behind him. Kesrick ascended the stairs as he climbed them he could see the light coming from the main room. The moment he reach the top to see what he feared, two army officers who had Wallace in contempt. Kesrick didn’t want to go in though his noises did stir them from their discussion as they turned towards the door. Wallace swallowed loudly as Kesrick came in “Lt Hinslay its been a while” one of them said as he got out of his seat and went over to him.

“Look, far as I know I’m not going back to the army” Kesrick said sternly as he was briefly hugged he didn’t feel like hugging the man back. He did know who he was yet the resentment was there as the officer backed off.

“We merely understand you were part of the taking of army property; that was out of order could end up having you trial for” the officers words were strict and hard as it reminded him of his times in the services. Kesrick gives a look at Wallace and the other officer before he slid past the authority man and went over to the kitchen.

“I wasn’t part of anything, If you didn’t notice it is dark outside how long have you been here for?” he asked as he poured himself a coffee.

The officer look out the window noting the blackness of the night that settled in; like an ink that spilled through the thin paper and blanched the clouds to a darker grey.

“We were waiting for you to come back and try and give defense for Wallace Breen’s actions. I guess we lost track of time. As for now will notify you both and expect to see you soon. Get a good lawyer because it will cost you” Wallace stood up out of his chair and gripped his fists. His grey blue eyes were gripped with anger and fury

“I retired I don’t care what you planned to do, I don’t have a lot left besides my friend Kesrick and this residence. If you want to arrest me for theft I didn’t steal it” he protested Kesrick was as horrified as Wallace was.

“I had someone owing me a favor it was only for this; you know that Kesrick is one of the only bio rehabilitee soldiers. I don’t want to go back and do any more work for you” he soon walks towards Kesrick.

The officers soon headed towards the door “You still breeched everything that would get your name and your legacy tarnished. Your services for the army will be dragged into the mud and every person you helped will know the man who saved them is a pity thief” as Wallace couldn’t take the officers words he soon lurched forward, Kesrick held him back as the officers filed out the door. Wallace struggled in Kesrick’s iron grip they sure had a way to bring a man down so quickly.

“Wallace face it, not worth fighting them now let them go” as the old man slumped “They know, I’m not a honest man” he frowned as Kesrick let him go he didn’t race out the door he tired and worn down.

Today had been one of those days where everything that seemed alright soon caught up in a tornado of karma. Everything bad soon came back to them, and now they have to suffer or fight for a solution. The officers left through the side door out into the snow; they were suddenly greeted by three cloaked figures with fiery red hair. The officers froze as they reached for their guns; the grey figures loomed about in front of them like ghosts. “Who are you?” one of the officers stuttered through his teeth as the figures paused and floated closer to them. Soon enough the lead one spoke, her voice was like a snake hissing “I am Tisiphone (the avenger), I am Megara (the jealous) and I am Alecto (the unresting). We seek righteous for those who a riddle with sins who done wrong” the officers proceed forward guns outstretched at them.

“We don’t get a word your saying, so please if this is some stupid joke step aside” as the furies armed themselves with their weapons. Upstairs Kesrick leaned against the kitchen bench; he wasn’t aware what was happening in the alleyway below. Though the sudden alert did touch DD’s mind; she was bathing in the bathtub of blood she shot up from the sea of red splattering it about which her mouth a gape. Delvin was there as he sat beside the tub noted the sudden stir in his companions actions.

“Delvin, remember how you said that they will be back….there back” her words stirred them from their relaxed state.

Delvin didn’t seem to care less; DD got out of the tub and wraps herself in a towel to soak up what blood didn’t absorb into her skin. Vincent and Chaste stumbled out of hiding “The Furies are back, I’m afraid there right outside Kesrick and Wallace’s place” as the DD rushed aside the two men into the bedroom closing the door Delvin sat motionless as a stone. “Well aren’t we going to go?” Vincent voiced heighten in anxious tone as Delvin didn’t even move.

“Delvin we got to get down there before they move. What if the reaper is there with them” Chaste said as Delvin just closed his eyes and remained sitting.

“What is the point, we miss the first time and what are the chances we don’t get rid of them second time” DD quickly returned now dressed, her lovely body he craves for was now covered up again.

“Delvin you can stay here if you want. We are concern for our friends’ safety” DD knew that Delvin wouldn’t give up so easily, he remained stubborn and rigid on the stool.

“Just go, why should I be there trying to keep you all in check” he sneers as Chaste led Vincent and DD away from the bathroom door. “I never seen him so depressed” Vincent whispered as Chaste took out his time staff, he stared at it and looked at DD and Vincent.

“No good feeling less confident in ourselves, by the time we probably get there they would have been gone” he said as DD got agitated and had to take a stand.

“That’s right Chaste, no good feeling incapable when we can easily do this. We are better off going and saving Kesrick from the worst” DD trailed off as Vincent and Chaste taken in the words of encouragement from the only woman in their team.

“Ok will go, for Kesrick’s sake” Chaste said as he started up the staff’s power Delvin had reached the bathroom door way to see his team vanish from sight. He was alone in the candle lit hallway, feeling severed from the one thing he loved, along with the sudden relapse for seeing his dead lover Rose. Delvin walks the empty hall way towards his room it’s was then he felt a chilling presence.

The cold wind whirls behind him as Delvin turned around his gun in his hand his eyes widen slightly his teeth clenched. Sheer fear ripped through him; fear is a weakness they can’t afford to display especially to the enemy. It had been a long time coming; his red eyes absorbed the figure while his mind picked insides of Delvin.

“Long time no sees Delvin” the man spoke with such faience alluring tone that could win any victim over.

“Why are you here? How dare you show your face” Delvin snarls as he kept his gun tightly in his grasps, the man proceeded forward with such grace. More graceful and quick compare to Delvin. “I understand you’re weakening Delvin. The reapers become more and more restless. I may have stolen your rights to live a human life all those years ago” Delvin started firing rapidly at the man. Each bullet barely made a dent into his garnet flesh the blonde man just laughed as he swiftly made a grab for Delvin’s arm. “Your death will be fast, you life ended, and your remorse gone!”

Delvin continued, but Drake was on the move, taking in gunshot after gunshot, like a wall of steel that took in every bullet in his vampirism body.

“You forget Delvin! I am already dead! Also the fact I can heal myself just as easily”

Drake bellowed, hot blood in Delvin’s veins poured like wine in every drawing moment. Drake unsheathed his steal blade, his eyes thirsting for vengeance. Delving only managed puncturing Drake bit by bit, not enough to stop his offence attacks. Delvin could see that his skin being cipher of its vital fluids. Soon enough the two crash through the door way and flew through the air before crashing onto the bed smashing it down. The crashing noise of wooden crunching under the unnatural force as Drake had the upper hand on Delvin.

Delvin was pinned down he struggles to pry the vampire from his body, Drake had lean his face closer to his. “No use now, the underworld is already breeching its way up. Sadly we need your help” he words filled with distain as Delvin gritted his teeth and spat at the vampire.

“We will never help you; I won’t not after everything you did to me. To my beloved Rose” Delvin cries he summons the strength and flung the vampire off him crashing into the wall hard. Drake recovered quickly as Delvin got off the floor in one swift flip and faced off the blonde tyrant. “Face it Delvin, in the end the human race will be engulfed you can’t do anything unless, you bring the weapon out of hiding” Drake adjusted his monocle and fixed his hair with his glove hand.

Delvin wasn’t keen on helping at all, Drakes words did strike deep at the obvious he knew all too well. “There is no reason for you to come here and fight me. I loved to kill you and your kind. Oh wait most of your kind cease to exist to walk the plains of earth” Delvin snarled lowly as Drake didn’t feel intimidated by the immortals fret. The pair of them stayed apart, their untouched youthfulness ravaged their faces unable to age and writher. Permanently fixated to not define a true age; Drake soon moved away from the dent he made in the wall “True, but sometimes we can’t help what we feel we must do. To hate, to fight and kill, you never will help a monster who isn’t a threat” swift strides he soon was where the door laid on the floor.

“I help the ones who want peace, I never help ones who can’t help themselves cause there too superior to be dependent” Delvin spoke as the vampire smirked at him.
“It’s time I leave; face it you could be one of us. Remarkably chosen a more painful path to walk upon” Drake disappeared from Delvin’s sight and the silence of the house fallen around him once more. Delvin’s wounds soon closed up after bleeding for a while, he wasn’t anything like a vampire. That moment his team returned with Kesrick in presence they had lost the Furies and almost lost the two officers that were leaving the residents; DD notices the damaged and scent that cloaked the air. “Delvin what happen?” she steps over the broken down door.

Vincent and Chaste followed with Kesrick remaining in the hall way. Delvin tried to cover up the tears in his shirt with his hands though it didn’t work. DD smelt the air, whenever a vampire came it had a scent, unfortunately it was one that smelt the complete opposite to Delvin’s more fragrant and sweet.

Vincent and Chaste too caught the scent as Delvin remained vulnerable on the spot. “Did you managed to stop the furies?” he asked as DD soon stopped in front of him. “Who came here? This smell is everywhere in this room and bit out in the hallway” she stared into his eyes.

Delvin didn’t want to look into her eyes “It’s nothing to worry over, just worry about those furies for now” he walks past DD but Vincent halted him.

“Delvin this isn’t nothing, no major monsters have ever came out of the underground not with the war going on. Especially…” he stopped speaking in a serious tone when Kesrick entered into the room a lot more curious than before.

“What war? I think its time you stop covering up your selves” he protests as Chaste held Kesrick back from going any further in steps. Delvin eyes stared into Kesrick’s it could be too soon for telling him anything, he hasn’t even consider letting him be more than just a outsider that comes and goes.

“Kesrick it’s a long story, it’s painful to tell. We are so use to just us knowing it cause we hate to tell anyone else” Delvin words flowed out it was then he felt DD cling to his arm. The looks they gave he could tell it was hard to embellish the truth. Even Vincent’s beauty was marred by anxiety; they all looked like they trying to withhold their insides from spilling out. Kesrick decides to repress himself as he could tell it was making them all uncomfortable.

“The furies got away, but they could have been converging on attack Kesrick. I don’t think they were after that Sciopod at all I don’t know” DD burst out in frustration tone she sat down on the lop side bed almost falling side ways. Delvin caught her and prop her up with his hand.

“The reaper must be still around, we don’t know what it is taken form. In the past they usually were pretty easy now. I feel they are becoming harder to tame” Vincent sighed as he played with his locks of her hair; Chaste seemed to be staring down at the floor looking at the shards of spitted wood. Kesrick could see they weren’t even observing the situation as they should have it made, he wanted to shake each of them out of their slump despair thinking. Being in the army morale was injected into them constantly even the horrid scenes of death and blood that flashed in front of their eyes. That brought up the images of what happened to him to the surface as he squashes them down again.

Act 3 – Exposing old wounds

“It’s is rather late, shouldn’t Kesrick go home” Chaste said which was strange question considering they could have left him there with Wallace. “Wallace, how is he?” Delvin asks, Kesrick leant against the wall surprised that Delvin would consider him
“Those officers were there to serve us, court marshal Wallace for taking army property for minor use. Wallace probably struggling enough I could see it. The end is coming soon, could be locked for a long time if found guilty” his face showed how torn up he was about being part of a crime that was severely punishable. He never wanted to be involved, yet he would trust Wallace regardless if he robbed a bank just to have money to support them. He gave himself to him as a rock to lean on though what good is a rock if it’s eroding away.

“Kesrick, you’re welcome to stay here for good. I’ll do everything I can to keep you from being taken away” Delvin’s words seemed to enlighten the teams senses; he couldn’t believe Delvin was being generous now after being a jerk. “What about Wallace?” he said as Delvin got DD off the broken bed and approached the cyborg
“We can’t help him” Kesrick shoves Delvin away as he staggered back into the hall way “What you mean! Your powerful stealth and arrogant enough to kill creatures, your hearts isn’t kind enough to save the man who saved me” he yelled at them all as they filed out into the hall way. “I challenge you all to show me what you can do. You can all fight me one by one outside now” he storms down the stairs as they flea behind him in surprise.

“Kesrick its dark outside not to mention very cold, you don’t want to go out there do you?” DD spoke up as Kesrick opened the front door and stared at them.
“I don’t care its time you lot got into shape and stop this mopping around” they eventually came down the stairs as Kesrick steps outside the door only to meet with a lashing to the face with a whip. The team sped down to see Kesrick was being pulled out the door by the weapon; he yanked back and broke the leather weapon in two sending the Fury sprawling back in rage. They were all there congregating on the front yard as the snow had almost coated their cloaks making them easy to see.

“What do you want” Kesrick fought the creature as the other two descended upon the rest of them they went into action. “We want you” they all hissed at once as Chaste bounded into action fending them creatures off with his time control. The bursts of freezing motions did slow the Fury down enough for Kesrick to strike blows. Delvin realized why the monsters were keen on taking the cyborg. DD soon joined in firing away as Vincent gripped his fists “Well time to get busy” he flexes out his long black wings as he went airborne. Delvin pulled out his gun and stared at it, his team were fighting the wrong creatures. A fury may torture and torment victims until they driven to the edge and fallen off.

If he could touch them for a moment, he could tell what their true intentions were. Though as he watched them it was then he realized the fatal flaw they were looking for. Then he acted with haste, the reaper was here in a much smaller form, it was there on one of the Furies, there a golden lizard nested amongst the red locks of wild hair. The lizard in the middle of winter was the oddest thing to ever see. It was then the lizard jumped off and land in the snow it was the sudden fire of angel blood bullets; Delvin rained down missing it here and there it was fast. Delvin moved swiftly as the lizard tried to bury into the ice, Delvin manages to strike it down as the reaper screeched the black smoke fume out its form rose up and faded away. That led to the victorious end of the Furies which were engulfed into nothingness.

The team was relieved when the Furies disappeared; Delvin felt much more confident in his victory and keen eye has returned to him. The fight was over and Delvin soon returned to the pack that seemed to be curious as to what Delvin done.
“Delvin what happened?” Kesrick said he saw how Delvin’s proud ness returned to his face. “I had just had a break through, it was hard to detect where the culprit was and when Chaste froze the creature for mere moment I saw it” everyone seemed to be holding and waiting the sudden dramatic paused seemed unnecessary it was like Delvin was rebelling in the moment.

“Get on with it or just tell us inside” Chaste huffed Vincent frowned as his friend. The moon was out gave them enough light even to see. Remarkably enough Delvin sneered Chaste who started heading back towards the house. “A lizard, you wouldn’t see a lizard in the middle of winter let alone up here” he finished as DD was astounded by their leaders sudden attention to even the smallest obscure things. It wasn’t like the cat, this was buried in amongst the Fury’s long locks making it harder to distinguish let a lone identify it. “I wish Chaste did stay to hear this” Vincent said while Kesrick just shook his head “Well done then, question is now will you have faith to keep going” he touched Delvin on the shoulder firmly, though Delvin shrugged him off and walked towards the house.

“Lets go inside now, I think we still got a lot to sort through” he led the way like a dark cloud floating over the white frost. By the time they were out of the cold, Chaste was brooding near the fire place as they all came in. “You, always take the victory. We been fighting as a team and every time we win it’s mostly you that ends it” jealously had risen up like a dragon blowing fire. Vincent hovers into the room and tried to place himself between Chaste and Delvin “It’s not like that” he said as Chaste left them and headed off into the kitchen.

“Conflict will always linger” Delvin sat down as DD sat next to him like always.
“I been thinking, the first monster the banshee said she was looking for me. Now the furies said they want me. Is there something I don’t know that maybe you two know?” he stood with his arms folded against his chest. The two of them didn’t look at him in the eye DD did glance at Vincent who soon felt Delvin’s eyes on him.
“Why you looking at me for its like you two cant tell him. I refuse to expose him prematurely to it” Vincent left the room and venture into the kitchen.

There Chaste sat smoking and having a beer his eyes looked up as he saw the angel wander into the room and sat down opposite him.
“There’s no need to feel jealous, that’s one sinful emotional that grips everyone” Vincent stretched his hand across the table trying to reach Chaste. His beautiful eyes and white hair falling around his face like a silver curtain. Chaste couldn’t take his eyes away from him, he watches the smoke weave its way through the air and fade away.
“I know your one to be pure, not even yourself can keep that way. We all have dirt on our hands we can never clean” taking a swig of the beer and placed the bottle down on the table.

It was then Delvin, DD and Kesrick filed through the door way and joined them at the table. Delvin dug into the refrigerator and pulled out a 6 pack “Want one Kesrick?” he offered to the cyborg as Kesrick reluctantly taken one from the pack.
“What are we going to do about Kesrick?” DD asked as she searches for something to drink, Delvin passed a bottle of water.
“You can’t do anything about this! Its best for me and Wallace to take of this matter ourselves” Kesrick cracked the beer open. Delvin taken a sit opposite DD as Vincent rested his head on the table “If Kesrick is going to stay here? Where is he going to sleep” that caused Chaste to almost puke, Vincent face lit up with hope as he gazes at the cyborg.

Kesrick gave the angel a strange look as he drunk his beer avoiding his heavenly eyes. Chaste kicked Vincent in the shin which cause the angel cry in pain
“Damn it Chaste what the hell is wrong with you!” he yells as Delvin chuckled. The banter was a nice for a distraction; Kesrick had been turning the idea over and over in his mind. Wallace was the one to blame then again he can’t allow his savior be sent to jail or shot for a kind gesture. “We do have a spare room, though me and DD are stuck with a broken bed” Delvin put the bottle down. “And mode of transport” Chaste added as conversation went to the loss of material things.

“Wow things just get better and better for you. Besides you can always buy a new bed and car” Kesrick took another swig. Delvin fumbles about in his pocket and pulls out some notes tied up in a neat bundle. Kesrick pulled up his jacket sleeve and noted the time; it was just after midnight that was enough to make him feel like he over stayed his welcome. “I think I better head back, I shouldn’t left Wallace alone not knowing what else could come out at night” he finished the remainder of the beer, Chaste shifted in his chair standing up “Your going home? I don’t think you should” Vincent chirps as Delvin responded “You don’t have to, I think if the monsters are targeting you I think its best if you remain here for now on.” he announced as Vincent beamed Chaste rolled his eyes and DD was a little surprised.

“I’ll tell you when I made up my mind, you can’t make it up for me” Kesrick barked at Delvin who frown at him. There was intension again; Delvin resisting a fight with Kesrick as Chaste led out of the kitchen.
“Chaste I can see you’re tired of having him order you around” Kesrick whispered as Chaste remained tight lipped while he moved them into the front room away from the kitchen door. “At times you think he would stop taking the credit for everything. Before all this, I was in a tribe it was a mistake being ordered to do things that were wrong. It wasn’t until Vincent came along and cleared me of my sins given me hoped to live again” he said quietly to Kesrick as he pulled out his staff and held it in his hand.
“How did you end up controlling time?” the cyborg query as Chaste started up the device the thrumming noise erupted they were teleported away.

Wallace was wondering where Kesrick had vanished too He didn’t see him leave or realize what had happened at all. All he could think about is being hauled to jail for his crime. He been unable to sleep in his bed until he heard a lone cry of a woman in distressed. He looks over at the bedside clock it was well after midnight and his mind must be playing tricks on him. The cries grew louder and louder sets of invisible arms pulled the old man upright out of bed. The sudden jolt of moving limbs the old man was on his feet as the hands continued to pull along.

Through his empty eyes he saw a familiar scene painted before him, trenches and men fighting amongst a baron of barb wires. Bombs exploding and air raids Wallace was back in his youth. It seemed all real to him as he looks around in awe unaware it was all manifestation inside his mind. It was then one with him and his mate Charles Wilton was charging the field avoiding the chaos around them “We will make it home, as heroes” his mate said as they hit the nearest trench and started firing off any of enemies.

Wallace kept on walking as he was guided down the stairs remarkably the balance in each step and knowing he did it all without opening his eyes. Lucky enough he did almost leap in order to tie to the visions in his mind yet he was kept steady as he reached the back door. The noises around his head he was lost in trance; his friend Charles and himself were crawling and attacking some German soldiers as they fought. The door knob opened and the old man continued walking like a zombie out into the darkness.

“What are we going to do about tonight?” DD asked as Delvin and she observed the broken bed frame, Delvin rolled up his sleeves exposing his pale stone flesh also the blue tattoo that marked the back of his left hand.
“Well have to lift it and put the mattress on the floor for now. Grab a end DD” he said as he went to the foot of the bed DD eyes darted about realizing she can’t lift this alone Ridiculous as it seems they could have easily done it though the need for another was seem favorable to move it quicker. “Vincent” she cried as Delvin rolled his eyes as Vincent head pops in around the corner “You called?” he strides in as DD grabbed his arm and directed him towards the bed.

“Grab the other side and help us get this on the floor” she said as Vincent went around to the other side. This was a rather large bed, as the linen was disheveled upon it The three of them exerted their strength, Vincent was the one who complained as they got the mattress onto the floor just in time for the bed head to crash; startling Vincent with billows of dust. “I hope you enjoy sleeping on the floor” he gaffed as he sneezed and waved the dust particles away from his face. DD and Delvin watches the silver hair man leave the room and headed down the hall way.

“Well until tomorrow, we going to have sleep on the floor” Delvin muttered as he pushed the mattress a little more DD closed the door and watched him. Something about the moment they were alone, DD wanted to make the most of the nights they had together. Even they weren’t human, DD did wonder if Delvin had trouble trying to express his feelings to her. He always finds a way of not telling her through his vast repertoire on monsters. “Delvin did you want to take a bath” DD said leaning against the door as he turned to admire her with a smirk. Deep down Delvin like the idea of toying with her, being the only woman in the house. There was something far more enticing he would put in her place.

“I do wonder what’s taking Chaste so long” the sudden words dampen DD’s hopes groaning to herself. She moves away from the door as Delvin lies down onto the mattress with a thud the absence of height was something they going to have to adjust to.
“Delvin why you worrying about him, Chaste can take care of him no reason to be so concern” DD said as she knelt down and hugged Delvin tightly. The scent of the vampire that paid Delvin a visit seemed to have risen up again the faint whiffs reaching DD’s nose and reminding her of the subject that Delvin dismissed before.

Her hands clawed at the black silk shirt, finding the where the buttons and the holes overlap. Slender fingers sliding between and felt the cold flesh she wants so much to touch. “You know since we are alone; you can always unleash that hidden passion” DD whispered into Delvin’s ear which made him shutter a little. DD nipped at his ear as her fingers sink deeper in between the fabric and that’s enough to make Delvin grab her hand and pulled out from his seductive hiding place.

DD felt his hand on hers as he fished it out and placed back outside the garment and held it there. Disappointment a washed DD face as if the ocean had pulled itself far away from the shore. “DD I think I better go take that bath. I’m feeling rather faint” Delvin swiftly climbed off the mattress stood up and left her there. DD turned to watch him leave and she laid down in frustration “When you going to stop putting space between us” she cries out which made Delvin pause outside the door.

Vincent heard the outburst from his room and peered into the hall way, Delvin turned to see her sprawled over the mattress in agony.

Her words and expression made him feel even fainter as he grits his teeth. It was then something fling out from the bedroom door almost knocking Delvin out; as piece of the bed almost clunked him in the head it crashed into the wall; leaving a hole as it wedge into the plaster board and knocking down one of the many pictures of Rose Everlane. The precious item land on the floor and fell face down as Delvin’s eyes were filled with rage. “DD how dare you” he yells as he wanted to go in there and hurt her. His hands wanted to wrap around her neck. Delvin knew how jealous DD is that the fact he so attached to a woman who hasn’t been in his life for centuries.

Vincent remained hidden he watches the pair argue loudly until Delvin slams the bathroom door which cut the communication to an end. The angel closed his bedroom door and stared at his empty room. He never want to feel the anger or jealously of what love can do, he hated seeing this happen between two of his closest friends. Gracefully he moved over to his bed and sat down, he gather up a bible he had resting there and begin to read it. Even in the pages of the bible, love is seen as good or evil that left the angel frustrated.

He places the bible down on the bedside table he sighed. Stretching out his tired limbs he laid down and fallen asleep. In the bathroom Delvin sat submerged in the tub, his skin absorbing the blood through replenishing him. Closing his eyes as he sunk deeper his subconscious painting the past he long for getting back to again. It’s the magical moments he preferred to replay in his head which is cluttered with monsters. Evil that is stripping him of his chance to control what he wants to see. Searching deeper and deeper there was a glimmer in the corner which he strides towards. The light wants to enter through into the melancholy life with Rose Everlane.

The sound of the air thrumming dissipated as Chaste and Kesrick arrived at their destination “That taken a while” Kesrick said in a low voice the house was still rather dark as he fumbles for a light switch.

Chaste looks over his staff carefully “Maybe it’s in need fixing. You’re lucky we actually came in one piece” Chaste words sent a cold shiver down the cyborgs spine. Science was at play and Chaste didn’t know a lot about the mechanics of time itself. Once the room lit up as Kesrick notices the bedroom door open; he wandered in and saw the bed was empty. Chaste moved in behind and observed the cyborg survey the house.

“Wallace isn’t here” his voiced heighten in worry he went back to the front room. Chaste watched him as he soon left the flat rushing downstairs and checked if his car was still there. He opened the side door and looked out into the snowy drive way; his car was there that made him even more concern. “Chaste something isn’t right here” he said as the shaman stood in the door way, Kesrick went up and down in the snow fall.
“You don’t think that he was taken away? Has someone taken him!!” the sheer up roar in his voice as his brow creased as the man stepped into the snow fall.

“I need to call the police” Kesrick was going to head back indoors. Chaste halted him in his tracks “Kesrick, we could track him down” he observed the ground which was slowly being covered with the white sleet. Chaste knelt down and started to study the ground as he uses his powers Kesrick watches him managed to up lift the snow that fall off with reverse. “Kesrick follow me, we have a trail” he said as Chaste was in awe at the foot prints that continued to unveil themselves. The two of them were on the run as the trail only last for mere moments as they had follow it. It was all bare foot Kesrick wonder if Wallace was freezing himself to death in this cold weather.

In the midst of the darkness as the snow fell, a trance Wallace was being pushed along inside a world he believes that is real. The war still raging though it was getting harder and harder for Wallace and his mate who soon sustained terrible injuries it was the moment he had to stop and take cover. The spirits halted him as his limbs were freezing and shaking like tree branches in the wind. His feet were turning blue, there was no stop for him to put shoes as they dragged him barely dressed to withstand the cold night. The spirits that controlled him waited in front on the bank of the river which a man stood. The snow fell and was washed away, the river was being controlled not violent rapids.

His victim was tittering there as he waited for his companion to leave the body and snatch the soul with it. Far behind, the sound of snow being crunched and kicked up leaving a trailed of foot prints smeared violently. Kesrick and Chaste followed the trail best they could, breathe was flowing out like smoke as the frost clinging to the men’s hair and face stinging their eyes. Soon Chaste halted and pulled Kesrick aside behind a large pine tree. The sound of the river rushing like a torrent didn’t sound right for this time of the year. Especially since the river wasn’t running down hill Kesrick was held back as Chaste peered around to see Wallace standing there meters away. He soon detected that Wallace was possessed and there were two monsters there.

One was clearly hovering near the river side dresses in Aztec attire, mix with animal furs, he wore a mask and a head dress and carried a wooden staff. Chaste could see him and whether they were aware that they weren’t alone, Kesrick looks at Chaste with anxiousness “What is it? We aren’t we going to get him” he whispered as Chaste looked at him. Arming himself with his staff he replied.
“Kesrick you never wake a sleep walker. In this case the evil is using him to get you alone. That is a Kaklu, black magician from the mapuche mythology. They enslave dead people’s souls. It doesn’t work alone; it has a companion called a wefuke in bodies’ victims while its master controls it. ” Chaste watches deciding what he should do in order to spare Wallace’s life.

Kesrick got restless as Chaste tried to hold him back, yet he broke out from his grip and headed towards the Kaklu who soon moved from his spot and flittered towards him. Chaste came out of hiding and armed with his staff.
“Finally you come, though you will be too late to save your friend” the Kaklu spoke as his Wefuke threaten to move Wallace closer and closer to the waters that rushed violently in a giant whirlpool. “Don’t take him please, what is it you want!” Kesrick asked as Chaste stood in front of him protecting him from the chance of being taken by the Wefuke. The Kaklu gave an evil look at them especially Chaste who seemed to return him a ferocious look.

“We want you to come with us to the underworld. You possess something we want” the Kaklu said as he pointed to Wallace who was already in the water.
“I don’t have anything, don’t kill him” Chaste uses his staff and tries to freeze the waters though the Kaklu sense the magic and took it on a challenge.
“Kesrick don’t go any further” Chaste warned him as the Kaklu smirk Chaste stalks towards him ready to battle. “You will free him or ill kill you” the words were enough to make the Kaklu strike the first hit. The magic torpedo like a fire ball and blasted the ground where Chaste once stood. He took to the air as he had to come up with an attack back as the Kaklu went off after him. Kesrick watched the pair as he avoided the raining of the fire and blasts as he raced over to the rivers edge.

“Wallace” he cried over the noise though he didn’t respond; as Kesrick watched him drift closer and closer he had to risk his life to save the old man from death. Kesrick felt helpless as he leapt away as bolt struck the ground; knocking over a near by tree sending it crashing into the rivers torrents. Up above Chaste had to act fast as he soon created a bubble that will hopefully age the Kaklu to a point where it will turn into dust.
“You think that will stop me” the Kaklu cried as he was soon trapped inside a invisible field; Chaste looked over to see Kesrick scrambling on a fall tree towards Wallace. The Kaklu soon realized he was withering away as Chaste kept the bubble tightly around him.

“Chaste help please” Kesrick struggled to keep grip on the fall tree it wasn’t going to be enough to grab Wallace as he soon dragged under. Another monster below had consumed him with large liquid hands. Chaste watches the Kaklu disappear bursting the bubble it soon ended the fight. Chaste hovered back down watching the river slowly subside back into an undisturbed flow. Kesrick was devastated as he clung onto the tree clawing at it with frustration as Chaste tried to help the cyborg off the tree trunk.

“Kesrick its over, sorry we couldn’t save him” he said Kesrick was in hysterics soon enough he pulled away from Chaste and kicked up some snow in frustration.
“How could they take an innocent man away, he was my only friend I had…..” his voice echoing about the icy forest floor. The cyborg punched a tree so hard it shattered like a tooth pick as Chaste wanted to take Kesrick away without having to resort to force. “Loosing someone is not something I’m a stranger too, especially when it is beyond your control to save them. You got to let go” Kesrick looked at the black hair man dusted with snow fakes.

The winds rustle through the skeleton trees Kesrick realize he couldn’t stay there any longer. Chaste lead the distraught man back along the trail as the snow fall was lightening up. As the absence of the man who saved his life; is now no longer to be with the living taken away like a possession that will never be returned. Then the up rise of the army’s case against them, plus the stores and the flat might have to be sold. Kesrick had only one option left. To take Delvin up on his offer and move in with his freakish convent of monsterlogists and wait it until the end.
“Chaste, take me back to the flat. I’ll grab my stuff and drive to the mansion. Go ahead and inform Delvin of what happened” Kesrick said as Chaste used his time staff to teleport the pair away.

-----

Time was an instrument…. One we can either stop moving on a clock yet the day will proceed without you knowing the hour and the minutes. The unknown will come and happen to take people lives away as their time on earth is preset since the day they were born.

The night was soon lightening up in the skies above the forest of trees; the clouds were changing colours as the four wheel drive soon reached the mansion. Inside Kesrick weighing up what to do with the problems that’s stacking up against him. Only thing he done is take what’s his own and plus several supplies from the store and locked up.

No way of going back; he even tried to forget the army officers who will soon come find him and Wallace. Since Wallace went into the icy rivers of hell and despair, there was no way he could now try and replace him. The community will wonder what ever happened to the man who was generous to everyone and self less, Kesrick stared up at the mansion that stood like a large awaiting monster waiting to eating him up and live in its stomach.

The moment he got out of the car; he was surprised to see Vincent and Chaste waiting there, they came out of no where so fast. The sorrow that was in Vincent’s eyes he was informed with the news as he opened his arms. Chaste wasn’t apprehensive with his friend’s gesture he wanted to comfort him; Kesrick went over and hugged him. Vincent’s hair was beautiful brushing against his face, the scent of sweetness and the softness Kesrick almost didn’t want to let go of him as Chaste took the keys from Kesrick’s hand.

“Your one of us now, I hope you will never leave. That sounded so selfish” Vincent spluttered as the cyborg let go of him by then. “No don’t worry about it. Does DD and Delvin know?” Kesrick asked as the angel nodded until he is given a bag by Chaste “Here be useful and help” as Vincent taken the bags that Chaste piled onto him. The angel stagger with the bags soon trudge towards the house with Kesrick and Chaste in tow. Waiting inside the front door Delvin and DD watched as they soon filed all into the house and closed the door behind them.
