so there’s this boy

he was sixteen and they dropped the charges
now at eighteen,
the court decides to convict him

back then i wrote about it –
recalled memories of a boy with a halo
of blond curls,
said that i wished i could have the chance
to kiss him;
taste the blue skies of my childhood

maybe i only remember casey at
ten or eleven –
he had an easy smile
while i liked to hide behind long bangs and
words had a habit of getting stuck in my throat

casey probably doesn’t remember that
girl i used to be,
nor would he recognize me now
and if he were to kiss me today,
he would taste the salt of
my tears

a/n: this is a boy that I haven't spoken to or seen for years, yet for some reason the news makes my heart break
