you send mixed signals
like a broken sateillite;
it's a cliche, my dear,
but i feel each wave,
and each new one hits me
harder.

everyone hears a different story:
they're trying to be friends,
she wants to throw rocks at
his head, she'll break him
like she's never broken before.
i still can't separate the lies.

we're a love affair in a tragedy,
the butt of the joke in the comedy.
but if you play with fire
[confiscate our lighters]
something's bound to catch
eventually.

we talked like strangers and
kissed like lovers; it's
no way to live. we couldn't
conquer the feeling and
vulnerability.
[we're over, we're done].

something in friendship
invades enemy lines;
your eyes say yes and
your lips say no; your words
still refuse topick a side.

i'll take it all with a grain of salt;
it's a stupid phrase and
it doesn't compare to
the games we play.
i create lists in my head of the ways
i hate you but i love you all the same.
