They say the pen is mightier than the sword
but then why are we the outcasts?
Why are we the forgotten the repressed?
Why are we so scared to share our dreams
to shout them to the world
and let them be heard in the stars?
---
They keep us down with a sword formed of words
of malice cruelty insults mocking taunts
What is wrong with being different?
I am proud of it
So why am I hiding
writing this in the corner of my room
posting it anonymously
hoping that somewhere someone would read it?
Where is the power the strength the courage in that?
---
For the pen is mightier than the sword
and aren’t we all people of the pen?
We are different we are unique
We are those who believe in the beauty of dreams
and have felt the joy of writing
---
Why then are we afraid?
When we too can fight
with weapons of ink and paper
weapons of our minds our dreams
our hopes our wishes
Why strive to fit in
when we can be something special?
When together we have the power to change the world
---
We are a nation of dreamers
hiding mocked and repressed sometimes hated
But we are also envied
for we have freedom they do not have
The freedom to dream to hope to wish
upon shiny coins and wishing wells on shooting stars
on anything that can bear a wish
For no matter how much they fight with their swords of insults
no matter how much they try to break our spirit
We are free
for we will always have our dreams
---
So if your reading this
no matter where you are
Know that you are not alone
that their are others who are different
their are others fighting to hang on to hope
Know that you are never to old for stories
for we make fantasy into reality
We are free
for we are dreamers
