Note: This is a poem I wrote a couple months ago as part of my English oral speech. I got an A! :) The speech was about stereotyping and this poem highlights how everyone on my school is basically the same...
Looking around at familiar faces
And similar attitudes
And similar clothes
And similar hairstyles
They look just like clones
When did this happen?
Everyone's the same
I'm not gonna play along
I won't play the Same Game
But they're looking at me
As if I'm some kind of freak
I know what they're thinking
It's obvious what they're thinking
They're thinking:
"Aint she a bit unusual"?
So I don't listen to Hip Hop
I'm more into Rock
So my hair isn't slicked back
I'm not gonna do that
So I'm not "live" or "on dis"
I'll just give it a miss
So you think I'm unusual
Well that's you
It's Simon Says gone wrong
They're playing it non-stop
I thought we left that game in primary?
Don't be afraid to speak out
Jump up
Be loud
It's all a part of being you
A simple individual
But it's too late for that
You're a goner
But they're looking at me
As if I'm some kind of freak
I know what they're thinking
It's obvious what they're thinking
They're thinking:
"Aint she a bit unusual"?
So I don't listen to Hip Hop
I'm more into Rock
So my hair isn't slicked back
I'm not gonna do that
So I'm not "live" or "on dis"
I'll kust give it a miss
So you think I'm unusual
Well that's you
