like the deepest pits of Erebus

The sky splits open
as if it were sneering,
we are bones and skin;
deconstructing, perpetually
nothing.

They come, bringers of
white darkness, blood in
hand and mouths cut open.
They sing us a hymn; glass-
gritting and reflecting our
sins into the eyes that
ends and begins.

When the clock strikes six
and the sun comes free we
will wither beneath their feet,
monsters of the dawn, eyes of
despair; our tears will be the
ache that chastens the air.

The clouds are stale, our
smiles have crumbled; we
fell like demigods from the
breaches of nirvana.
