Do you dream in parallel?
Or do the realms intersect and dig into the grooves of your head while sleep knocks at your skull?
Do you breathe inward and then out?

Quick like when you run
Or slow when you sleep (dreaming your school skipping dreams)?
Wondering when one doubt will relinquish the next

The position of the pillows won’t change your heart
They’ll send you twisted and contorted when you slip off the edge of the mattress
(The squeaky frame speaks to you while you toss)

Legs will twist in the sheets and your palms will paw around for an exit sign
It must have been easier to dream in horizontal
But the very thought of non conformity sets sick into your gut

And you collapse into ideas of valleys and mountains
Believing and dreaming that what’s deep inside your head will help you escape
This bullshit of a place you call home
