When no one can see me,
I ignore all that’s true
and pretend that it's fine
to be in love with you.

I turn 'round my ring
and look towards your eyes
and wander in vane
through the grape-juice skies.

I fall so completely
I can feel the earth's heat
and the sound of the lava
lapping my feet.

But the burns don't hurt much
and I feel so insane
that I forget you're in love
and break free of my pain.

And when I awake
there's a stillness inside
and I remember it all
and the knife grabs my side.

And I'm left on my own
as the night turns to day,
and with life on your shoulders,
you stumble away.

And I cripple myself
as your boy waltzes through
and makes me a fool
for being in love with you.
