Naivety
I remember starry-eyed children
biding by baby’s breath;
they cling to the last shred of childhood
by a whisker.
I remember sticks & stones in pockets;
no consciences,
no biological clock,
warning, “don’t grow up!”
until its too late, and you know.
But most of all, I remember
putting faith in ignorance and naivety,
which walked hand-in-hand like boys and girls -
but I was never young,
only naive.
