"Visions"

When I lay me down to sleep,
And upon my pillows weep,
I close my eyes, but still I see,
Through visions in the night,
By dreams filled with fright,
Is how the world appears to me.

A place of always terror,
Where each person is in error,
And know not what is to be,
Who long for life to cease,
And would welcome death's release,
If only they could find a way.

For to live is too much pain,
In life they see no gain,
Nothing but death and decay,
Existense dangles by a rope,
They see no reason to hope,
That all will be well some day.
