Today is hushed,
a sleeping world only the sky sees.
I move through your footprints,
the tracks of cars and strangers.
Buildings with eyes like caves opening into the world.

I wonder, through blinking eyes, if it snows where you are
if you can even see the sky.
Who will hang snowflakes on my windows,
and string Christmas lights high across the ceiling when the days grow dark,
now that you are gone?

Who will melt the frost from my hair,
and whose mouth will bring daisies into being on the glass panes?
Winter's breath still feels like yours beside me.
